How to Repair Windows Server When it Doesn’t Boot up

Windows Server is Microsoft’s server platform series, more specifically for network servers. A Windows Server OS will rarely not boot up, but some users might still need to repair a Windows Server platform that doesn’t boot.

Users can do that with a Windows Server installation DVD or USB drive, including troubleshooting utilities.

How can I repair Windows Server with an installation disc?

1. Via the Command Prompt

  1. Users can try fixing Windows Server with Command Prompt utilities. To do that, insert the Windows Server installation DVD to boot from it.
  2. A Windows Server setup window will then open. Press the Next button on that window.
  3. Then click Repair your computer at the bottom left of the Windows Setup window.
  4. Select the Troubleshoot option.
  5. Then, choose the Command Prompt option to open the Prompt’s window.
  6. First, enter ‘DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth’ in the Prompt, and press the Return key.
  7. Enter ‘sfc /scannow’ and press Return to run a System File Checker scan to fix corrupted files. That might take 30 minutes or longer to finish. The SFC scan how to repair windows server
  8. To fix the system boot record, enter the following commands in the Prompt separately:
    bootrec /fixmbrbootrec /fixboot

    bootrec /rebuildbcd

  9. After that, restart the desktop or laptop.

2. Restore a System Image

  1. Users can also restore system images so long as they’ve kept system image backups with the Windows Server Backup utility. Insert the Windows Server install DVD to open the window in the snapshot below.Windows Server 2016 setup window how to repair windows server

  7. Press the Next button.
  8. Users can then select a Format and repartition option to reformat hard drives to match the system image layout. However, users only really need to select that if they’ve replaced a server’s hard drive.
  9. Click the Next button.
  10. Press the Finish button, and then select the Yes option to confirm.
  11. When the Windows Server image has been restored, remove the Windows Setup DVD and restart.

So, that’s how users can fix Windows Server platforms with a Windows Server setup DVD. First, try fixing Windows Server with the SFC and bootrec commands, and then restore a system image if the command-line utilities don’t do the trick.

Screen turns red when capturing a screenshot in Windows 10/11

Windows 10 May 2019 Update got a cumulative update recently.

KB4512941 brought a long list of bug fixes and improvements, but it also came with a series of problems.

After installing it, Windows 10 users complained about high CPU usage triggered by a bug with the SearchUI.exe process. Others complained that the update broke their Windows search experience.

Now, a new series of reports show that those weren’t the only problems with KB4512941. Users are saying that the update is causing their screen to turn red when they take a screenshot:

My screen turns red when I capture a screenshot. How can I turn it off? I haven’t changed any settings; yesterday it was fine. I tried using different snipping tools, and the regular PrtSc button. All red. I have the night mode off, and everything else is regular.

windows 10 v1903 screen turns red when taking screenshots

And here’s the OPs screenshot:

And this isn’t the only report, as other users confirm the problem.

What can I do if my screen turns red when taking screenshots in Windows 10?

If you’re in the same boat and experience this weird bug, you’ll be happy to know that there are a couple of fixes.

1. Rollback your display driver

It seems like the problem is caused by the display driver, and the first step is to roll back the driver to a previous version. To do that, follow the steps:

  1. In your Windows search box type Device Manager and click on the first result. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key + X and click on Device Manager. Device manager display driver rollback
  2. In Device Manager, expand Display adapters.screen turns red when taking screenshots in windows 10
  3. Right-click your display adapter and then click on Proprieties.
  4. In the new window that appears, go to the Driver tab.rollback display driver windows 10
  5. Now click on Roll Back Driver.
  6. Restart your PC.

If the rollback option isn’t available, then go to the next solution.

Keep in mind that if the rollback works, you’ll have to prevent Windows from auto-updating the driver in the future. If you don’t know how to do that, check out this useful guide.

2. Update the display driver from the manufacturer’s website

If the rollback option is missing or if it doesn’t solve the problem, then you’ll have to update your driver to the latest version.

Just go to the website of your driver or PC manufacturer and check what’s the latest driver released for your model and OS. If there is a new driver, uninstall the old one and install the newly downloaded driver.

If you need more info on how to update your graphics card‘s driver, we’ve prepared a step-by-step guide that will help you do it with ease.

3. Use a third-party driver updater

The better way to manage all your PC drivers and update them with the latest official versions is by employing specialized driver update tools.

By choosing this alternative, you will efficiently install missing drivers or fix broken ones that can compromise your system functionality. In terms of updating, you only have to select the outdated ones and automatically update them.

Therefore, using the following third-party solution will definitely help you to update GPU drivers correctly, without affecting the system.

⇒ Get Fortect Driver Updater

After that, the problem should be solved.

How to download and use PowerToys on Windows 10

Microsoft announced the release of the first preview and code for PowerToys.

If you didn’t know already about the PowerToys project from Windows 95, the service is a set of utilities for power users to help them improve the Windows experience and to get more out of the Windows 10 shell.

PowerToys comes with two new utilities

This first preview contains two utilities. The package from GitHub also contains info and tools to better understand PowerToys and create your own utilities.

The first two utilities are:

  • Windows key shortcut guide microsoft powertoys windows key shortcut tool

The Windows key shortcut guide is a full screen overlay utility that provides a dynamic set of Windows key shortcuts that are applicable for the given desktop and currently active window. When the Windows key is held down for one second, (this time can be tuned in settings,) an overlay appears on the desktop showing all available Windows key shortcuts and what action those shortcuts will take given the current state of the desktop and active window. If the Windows key continues to be held down after a shortcut is issued, the overlay will remain up and show the new state of the active window.

  • FancyZones microsoft powertoys fancyzones utility

FancyZones is a window manager that is designed to make it easy to arrange and snap windows into efficient layouts for your workflow, and also to restore these layouts quickly. FancyZones allows the user to define a set of window locations for a desktop that are drag targets for windows. When the user drags a window into a zone, the window is resized and repositioned to fill that zone.

To get started with FancyZones, you need to enable the utility in PowerToys settings and then open it by pressing the Windows key + ~. After that, in the new window that appears, you’ll have to choose a layout. microsoft powertoys fancyzones layouts

It’s worth mentioning that you can also create custom layouts under the Custom tab in the editor. You have two options to create custom zones layouts: window layouts and table layouts. create custom layouts in fancyzones

The first starts with a blank layout and supports adding zones that can be dragged and resized. The table layout allows zones to be created by splitting and merging zones and then resizing the gutter between zones.

Microsoft’s backlog of utilities is on GitHub, and the tech giant is encouraging users to contribute and provide feedback for the new utilities.

If you want to get started with PowerToys, check out the contribution guidelines for the project.

How to get the most out of Windows key + shortcuts using PowerToys in Windows 10

Cut (CTRL + X), copy (CTRL + C), and paste (CTRL + V) are the usual keyboard shortcuts every Windows 10 PC user knows by heart. The purpose of keyboard shortcuts is to avoid the number of keystrokes to type out a phrase or execute a command in Windows. Microsoft claims to want to boost the productivity of Windows 10 users and keyboard shortcuts help you stay productive and efficient using apps like Excel.

Often overlooked are the many Windows logo key commands available in Windows 10. Microsoft posts an online drop-down menu of “Windows logo key keyboard shortcuts” on its Windows Support website. There are over 50 Windows logo key commands and they offer a number of different commands that may or may not always apply to you or your Windows 10 PC setup. For example, the Windows logo key + Y command is used to “switch input between Windows Mixed Reality and your desktop.”

The list of Windows logo key commands may also be entirely useless if you don’t even have a Windows logo key on your keyboard. If you don’t have a keyboard with the Windows logo key, some people use CTRL + Esc to simulate the Windows logo key, but you may be out of luck if your keyboard doesn’t have a Windows key.

Other Windows logo keyboard shortcuts include Windows logo key + C, which allows Cortana to listen for your voice command. As Microsoft redesigns how Cortana works in Windows 10, it appears that that command may soon be obsolete. Testing out Windows logo key commands, I thought that I discovered a new visual menu. When I held down the Windows logo key for a few seconds a new visual keyboard menu would appear, offering a quick view at what the Windows logo key can do on my desktop.

Turns out I didn’t discover anything new, I just discovered the new visual keyboard shortcut menu for PowerToys. PowerToys first public preview released a few days ago and I downloaded it to try out and use Fancy Zones. As noted in a Windows Insider blog post, Fancy Zones acts as a windows manager that helps boost productivity.

Microsoft releases first preview of PowerToys utilities for Windows 10

“FancyZones is a window manager that is designed to make it easy to arrange and snap windows into efficient layouts for your workflow, and also to restore these layouts quickly. FancyZones allows the user to define a set of window locations for a desktop that are drag targets for windows. When the user drags a window into a zone, the window is resized and repositioned to fill that zone.

To get started with FancyZones, you need to enable the utility in the PowerToys settings, and then invoke the FancyZones setup UI. There’s a button in settings to open this UI, or you can press Window logo key+~ to launch it. When first launched, the UI presents a list of zone layouts that can be quickly adjusted by how many windows are on the monitor. Choosing a layout shows a preview of that layout on the monitor. Pressing the save and close button sets that layout to the monitor.”

Holding down the Windows logo key is just one of PowerToys’ utilities. There is even a specific setting within PowerToys to change the time it takes to show the “Shortcut Guide” when you hold down the Windows logo key (in milliseconds).

How to get the most out of Windows key + shortcuts using PowerToys in Windows 10

When you have PowerToys installed and enabled, holding down the Windows logo key brings up a visual menu showing some shortcut examples the Windows logo key. PowerToys helps to provide users with a more meaningful keyboard shortcut experience in Windows 10.

How to open the new keyboard shortcut menu in Windows 10
For example, Windows logo key + 1 opens the first item that is pinned to my taskbar. On my Windows 10 PC, that command opens the Microsoft Store. The visual menu makes it easy to not have to remember a new list of commands to use with the Windows logo key. If you don’t have PowerToys installed, here’s what you need to do.

1. Download the Power Toys Windows Installer here.
2. Follow the installation instructions.
3. Once installed, open PowerToys.

My Take

Microsoft focus remains on providing the most productive and efficient experience for Windows 10 users. PowerToys is a great resource and utility for Windows 10, although I wonder if it should be included as a Windows 10 feature and instead of a separate utility app. More advanced Windows 10 users would enjoy having another shortcut tool at their disposal, especially as more utilities are added to the PowerToys library.

Orange screenshot issue is latest bug plaguing the Windows 10 May 2019 Update’s most recent CU

Microsoft has had a bit of a rough time when it comes with patching the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. The most recent cumulative update for the operating system has caused issues with the search experience, as well as CPU spikes. Now, another annoying issue is plaguing users running the up to date version of Windows.

Of all things, this time, it’s a problem with screenshots (via MSPoweruser.) According to multiple posts in the Microsoft Answers forums, some users running the May 2019 Update who have installed the latest cumulative update (KB4512941) are receiving an orange hue when taking screenshots.

The problem persists with Night Mode turned off, and occurs across all screenshot taking software. That includes the snipping tool as well as the Print Screen button. Another user in the same forum posts also reports that the issue is a bit worse. All items on their screen turn red, even when not taking screenshots. Interestingly, a thread on Reddit also indicates that some have the same issue, but turning on Game Mode will result in normal screenshots.

For users who are experiencing the problem, it might be best to uninstall the latest cumulative update to see if the issue goes away. Otherwise, an independent advisor in the Answers forums suggests to roll back the display driver or update the display drivers from the manufacturer’s website. Another user also suggests that turning off Bluetooth via the Action Center might solve the problem.

Microsoft has not yet added this to the list of known issues for the KB4512941 patch. However, there remains the possibility that this could just be an isolated issue. Roughly a total of 18 people have marked it as “I have the same question.” in the Microsoft Answers forum.

FIX: Windows server does not allow clipboard redirection

If you are seeing the error Windows server does not allow clipboard redirection, you have to know, you are not the only one. A large number of Windows server users have encountered this exact issue.

This policy is put in place to protect you from any remote computers connecting to your client computer while performing the Remote Desktop Services.

Simply put, this policy prevents users from deviating any sort of clipboard data back and forth between the remote computer and the host server.

This setting is set to allow Remote Desktop Services access to the clipboard, but if the above-mentioned policy is activated, any clipboard data will not be given access.

Not having this policy enabled can be extremely dangerous, as a third-party can perform an attack on the server without any sort of warning.

For these reasons, in today’s article, we will explore the best way to deal with this issue. Please follow along to ensure that you will perform the steps correctly.

Windows server not allowing clipboard redirection

In order to prevent any third-party’s access to your Windows Server clipboard functionality, you will need to configure your server to not allow clipboard access.

The steps required for different versions of Windows server will vary, but please follow the steps presented here to enable the option easily:

Windows 2016 server

  3. Click on the Remote Desktop Services -> select Collections.
  4. Select Tasks -> choose Edit Properties.
  5. Under the Client Settings tab -> make sure Clipboard and Drive is disabled.

Windows 2008 server

  1. Press Win+R keys on your keyboard.
  2. Type ServerManager -> press Enter.
  3. Inside the Server Manager window -> click on Connections.
  4. Right-click the connection you want to modify settings to -> select Properties.
  5. Inside the Client Settings tab -> make sure the box next to Clipboard is checked.

Note: If you don’t want to allow copying and pasting of files either, make sure to check the box next to the Drive option.

If you want some users to have access to the clipboard function, do this:

You will need to segment the LAN connections that have Remote Desktop Services clipboard enabled to allow you to track the influx of information.

This will prevent any unauthorized access to your server‘s clipboard function, and if any connection is performed, you can analyze the data. This will allow you to make sure that your system will not be corrupted.

Microsoft bolsters its Connected Vehicle Platform (MCVP) with new TomTom addition

Microsoft’s connected vehicle platform normally is not considered in the same discussion as Google’s Android Auto or Apple’s Car Play, but according to a new report from ZDNet, it seems the company is adding yet another noteworthy feature to its collection of Azure-connected car related service bundles that could bring it closer in conversation.

Microsoft and the Dutch-based navigation software provider TomTom have partnered to create a level of integration with Azure that would allow automakers to “generate data-driven insights to deliver tailored services and to make better-informed designs and engineering decisions,” based on the press release from TomTom.

In addition to helping automotive engineering decisions, TomTom will also be providing its obvious HD mapping technology, traffic information analytics, and navigation tools to automakers to aid in autonomous software development.

“Our integration with the Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform means that automakers can get access to precise and reliable navigation and driving behavior data easily, while of course adhering to privacy principles. This data could, for instance, be used to predict the range of an electric vehicle based on driving behavior and planned route more accurately; or to work out, based on navigation behavior, what connectivity package for online navigation would be best suited for a driver. This is a game-changer for OEMs.”

Today’s news follows a three-year-long pattern of decisions from both Microsoft and TomTom to enlist the help of one another while leveraging the benefits of cloud-based navigational developments.

Back in December 2016, TomTom began seeding its location-based services to Azure and in February 2019, Microsoft awarded TomTom the coveted spot of location data provider for mapping services across the company’s various solutions that included Bing, Cortana, Windows and Azure Maps.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic not working on PC

Windows 10 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, but just like many other operating systems, sometimes Windows 10 has issues with older software.

Some users have reported that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is not working on Windows 10, so let’s try to fix that.

How do I fix Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on Windows 10?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a great game, however, since the game was released a while ago, it has some issues with newer operating systems such as Windows 10. Speaking of issues, users reported the following problems:

  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic won’t start, play, open – Many users reported that they are unable to play or open the game at all. This can be an annoying error, but you should be able to fix it by running the game in Compatibility Mode.
  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has stopped working – This is another common error with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. If your game suddenly crashes, be sure to try some of the solutions from our article.
  • KOTOR crashing after character creation – This is another problem that users reported. In most cases, this issue is caused by your graphics configuration.
  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic keeps crashing – Many users reported that their game keeps crashing. This is an annoying problem, but you can fix it by changing CPU priority and affinity.
  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic not loading, working – In some cases, the game won’t load or work at all on your PC. However, you should be able to solve that problem by using one of our solutions.

Compatibility issues are relatively common with every new operating system especially when it comes to older software. Speaking of which, Knights of the Old Republic was released back in 2003, so it’s expected to have some issues with Windows 10.

Users report that they are able to start the game, but when they want to load a saved game or start a new one the game just crashes to Windows.

If you’re having this issue you should know that there are a few things that you can do to fix it.

1. Try running the game in the compatibility mode

Since compatibility could be an issue, the first thing we’re going to try is running the game in compatibility mode. And here’s how to do that:

  1. Find Knights of the Old Republic shortcut and right click it. Choose Properties from the menu.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has stopped working
  2. Navigate to Compatibility tab. Check the Run this software in compatibility mode for and choose an older version of Windows such as Windows 8 or Windows XP. Click Apply and then OK.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic won't start

After making these changes, the game should start working again without any problems.

2. Disable Frame Buffer Effects and Soft Shadows

These are some old options that don’t work on newer platforms, so it’s best to disable them. To do this you need to do the following:

  1. Start the game.
  2. Go to the Options menu.
  3. Select Graphics. Next, go to Advanced Graphics Options.
  4. Find and uncheck Frame Buffer Effects and Soft Shadows options.

3. Set the CPU priority and affinity

The next thing we’re going to try, if you’re still unable to play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on your Windows 10 PC, is to change the CPU priority and affinity. To do that, just follow these steps:

  1. Locate swkotor.exe (it should be in your installation directory, or if you have Steam version of the game, it will be located in C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonswkotor), right click the .exe file and choose Properties.
  2. In the Target box add the following lines to the Target location:
    • /high /affinity 1
tar Wars Knights of the Old Republic not loading
  3. For example, if you have Steam version of Knights of the Old Republic your target field should look like this:
    • C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonswkotorswkotor.exe /high /affinity 1
  4. Click Apply then OK to save the changes.

4. Uncheck the Read-only property of the game directory

  1. Locate the installation directory of your game and right click it.
  2. Choose Properties from the list.
  3. Make sure that Read-only property is unchecked. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic won't play

After making this change, check if the issue still persists

5. Edit the game configuration file to run the game in Window mode

  1. Locate the swkotor.ini file and open it with Notepad. This is the configuration file for the game and it should be located in the game directory.
  2. Locate the following line:
    • Fullscreen=1
  3. and change it to:
    • Fullscreen=0.
  4. In the [Graphic Options] section add the following line:
    • AllowWindowedMode=1
  5. Save the file.
  6. Run the game using the swkotor.exe file from the game directory. Bear in mind that running the game from Steam Library will undo these changes, so remember to run it from the installation directory.

If you want to use another text editor, check out the best Notepad alternatives in this article.

6. Run the SWUpdate file

If you’re having problems with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on your PC, the problem might be related to missing updates. However, you can easily fix that issue simply by running the SWUpdate file.

This file is located in Knights of the Old Republic installation directory, by default, it’s steam/steamapps/common/swkotor, and after running this file most problems with the game should be resolved.

7. Turn of Vsync and other graphics options

  1. Locate the game’s shortcut, and right click it.
  2. Choose Run as administrator from the menu.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has stopped working

If the game is working well, you’ll need to repeat this solution every time you want to play it. You can also set the game to always run with administrative privileges. To do that, just follow these steps:

  1. Locate the game’s shortcut, right click it and choose Properties from the menu.
    KOTOR crashing after character creation
  2. Navigate to the Compatibility tab. Now check Run this program as an administrator and click on Apply and OK.

Windows 10 20H1 build 18975 brings draggable Cortana app window to Fast Ring Insiders

Microsoft has just announced the release of Windows 10 20H1 build 18975 for Fast Ring Insiders, which brings some improvements to the new Cortana beta app that’s currently only available for Insiders in the US. Starting this build, Microsoft will roll out the ability to drag the Cortana windows across the screen to 50% of Fast Ring Insiders. The Cortana app windows can also be resized like any other app, and this looks to be a positive change overall.

In addition to these Cortana updates. Microsoft also announced that the ability to rename virtual desktops should now be available for all Insiders in the Fast Ring. This is a minor update overall, but you can check out the full details about what’s new below:

Introducing the ability to move the Cortana window

With the new conversational Cortana experience, we understand that you wanna keep the chat going sometimes, and the default position of the window isn’t always where you’d prefer to have it docked if you’re going to have a longer back and forth. That’s why we’re starting to roll out the option to be able to move the window (by dragging the title bar area), to anywhere you’d like on the screen–just like you can with other windows. You can also resize the window if you’d like. Currently, this change is rolled out to 50% of Insiders with the new Cortana experience, and we’ll continue the rollout as we validate the quality of the experience.

Fix: Windows Server Not Showing up in Network in File Explorer

Some users utilize Windows Server PCs for their local networks. However, a few users have stated in forum posts that their Windows Server PCs don’t appear in Network within File Explorer on their client PCs.

Thus, File Explorer does not display all network devices within the Network on its navigation pane. This issue has become more prevalent since Microsoft removed HomeGroup from Windows 10 1803.

However, the same error can also arise on Windows 7 clients.

Firefox 69 is out and blocks third-party tracking cookies and cryptominers by default

Despite much of the internet browsing world preferring to make use of Google’s Chrome web browser, the folks over at Mozilla continue to toil away at providing an alternative solution with their Firefox software.

A couple of days ago, Mozilla rolled out Firefox v.69 and with the new release, the company is empowering Android, Windows, and Mac users with a new blocking feature that targets third-party tracking cookies and Cryptomining by default. According to a Mozilla press release:

For today’s release, Enhanced Tracking Protection will automatically be turned on by default for all users worldwide as part of the ‘Standard’ setting in the Firefox browser and will block known “third-party tracking cookies” according to the Disconnect list. We first enabled this default feature for new users in June 2019. As part of this journey, we rigorously tested, refined, and ultimately landed on a new approach to anti-tracking that is core to delivering on our promise of privacy and security as central aspects of your Firefox experience.

The new additions are denoted by a new bright green lock icon that appears in the address bar of the browser that highlights the safety and security of the site per Firefox’s stringent tracking policies.

For specific allowances, Android users can dig a bit deeper into the new features preferences by hitting the green lock icon in the address bar and opt to “Turn off Blocking for This Site.”

A lesser highlighted feature of Firefox 69 is the protection from Fingerprint scripts that help protect users from sites that capture snapshots of a computer’s configuration upon visit. To enable this feature, users need to turn on “Strict Mode” from their browser settings, for now. Mozilla mentions in their press release, that they are planning to bring Fingerprint script protection as default feature sometime in the future.

Latest Windows 10 1903 update also broke Windows Search for some, but a fix is coming this month

Microsoft’s latest optional update for Windows 10 version 1903 has been more problematic than expected. If Microsoft didn’t indicated any known issues when it released the build 18362.329 on August 30, some users have quickly noticed that Cortana’s background process (SearchUI.exe) could cause unusual CPU spikes of between 30% and 40% for no apparent reason.

Microsoft finally acknowledged the issue two days ago and said that a fix could come in an upcoming release, but the company has since updated the known issues for the optional update to mention some Windows Desktop Search issues that haven’t been discussed before (via ZDNet).

Microsoft is getting reports that a small number of users may not receive results when using Windows Desktop Search and may see high CPU usage from SearchUI.exe. This issue only occurs on devices that have disabled searching the web using Windows Desktop Search.

Again, the software giant says that these issues are only affecting “a small number of users,” and the build 18362.329 is still an optional update that the company is pushing to all users on Windows 10 version 1903. Anyway, the good news is that the Microsoft expect to fix these issues “in mid-September,” which could be next week with the monthly “Patch Tuesday” update.

How to make Windows 10’s File Explorer show the full directory path in the title bar

File Explorer, formerly Windows Explorer, has steadily evolved over the years and become easier to use. One change has been to “prettify” directory paths, which are now obscured from the user.

File Explorer in Windows 10

File Explorer’s address bar breaks the path up into individual folders, which you can expand to quickly navigate through a directory hierarchy. However, you can’t see where the root folder resides without first clicking into the address bar.

File Explorer in Windows 10

It’s possible to make the window’s title bar (but not the address bar) display the complete path. With this option enabled, you’ll see window titles such as “C:,” instead of just “OneDrive.” This can be helpful when working with lots of similarly named folders under different root directories.

File Explorer in Windows 10

Open File Explorer and click the “View” tab on the ribbon. Next, click the “Options” button to the far-right of the ribbon. Switch to the “View” tab and then select the “Display the full path in the title bar” checkbox. Click “Apply” and then “OK” to close the popup.

Subsequently opened File Explorer windows will now be titled with the full path to the directory they’re currently displaying. You can easily reverse the change by returning to the Folder Options popup and clearing the “full path” checkbox.

Microsoft reminds Windows gamers that Game Bar exists with quirky new angel ad

The Game Bar is a pretty cool Windows 10 feature that can streamline multitasking while gaming on PC but it’s also something that most casual users likely don’t use or are even completely unaware of.

Microsoft is hoping to remind Windows 10 users of the feature with a new ad that it launched this morning on the official Xbox YouTube account. It’s a bit of a convoluted ad featuring two women in a sauna talking about how pressing the Win + G keyboard shortcut on a laptop gives an angel its wings. It’s kind of a bizarre play on the popular phrase from It’s A Wonderful Life.

Short of a two second screen of the Game Bar windows, the ad doesn’t really make an effort to educate the viewer on what exactly the feature does. Instead, its main focus seems to be on helping the viewer to remember the keyboard shortcut to activate it by repeating “Win + G” numerous times.

The shortcut itself is actually one of the easiest Windows 10 keyboard shortcuts to remember, though, as it’s just the Windows key and the first letter of Game. However, the ad seems to be going for the wing pun. As in, when you add G to the end of Win you get wing.

To be honest, this pun is something that didn’t even occur to me until I saw someone else point it out in the YouTube comments so it will be interesting to see if many others pick up on it.

What do you think about this ad? Do you like it? Do you think it’s effective? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and then follow us on Pinterest for more Xbox gaming content.

India’s Yes Bank partners with Microsoft to strengthen its AI-powered banking solutions

Yes Bank has announced its partnership with Microsoft to strengthen its first of its kind, AI-enabled chatbot, YES ROBOT. The chatbot combines natural language processing (NLP) and AI to offer an almost human-like experience for customers while addressing their banking needs. Founded in 2004, Yes Bank is India’s fourth-largest private sector bank.

The chatbot is capable of understanding and resolving the evolving banking needs of customers without the need for human intervention. It helps users to perform financial and non-financial banking transactions by employing conversational AI, thereby relieving customers from the hassle of navigating through multiple web pages.

Ritesh Pai, Chief Digital Officer, Yes Bank believes that chatbots would be game-changers in the industry, providing major competitive advantage to banks. “The aim is to make the whole service experience more personalized and instant so that the chatbot can evolve and operate as a full-fledged banking assistant in future,” he adds.

YES ROBOT has been build by the bank’s in-house technology team using Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services. Going forward, Yes Bank plans to integrate the bot with services such as contextual and real-time transfer of chat from bot to the live agent as well as integration with different platforms and applications such as WhatsApp, Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri.

It can also provide an indicative loan amount using Machine Learning and advanced credit scoring algorithms. One of the most pivotal features of this chatbot is the option to book fixed deposits and recurring deposits by simply conversing with it.

The chatbot can identify the intent of the user with over 90% accuracy, even with human errors, and over 8.3 million customer interactions have already been reported since its launch in December 2018.
