FIX: Epic Games Store can’t download content on PC

The most prominent method one could think of is through the use of game distribution platforms.

  • DXDIAG
  • MSINFO
  • UPLAY PC LOGS

6. Any other Uplay error that might occur

If any other error message might appear to you, try one of the solutions listed above, most importantly:

  • Running Uplay with administrator rights
  • Troubleshooting your network connectivity
  • Install a fresh copy of Uplay

7. Use a reliable VPN service

Using a third-party VPN service to access Uplay can prevent many of the above-mentioned errors.

This type of program has customizable privacy settings and allows you to access the desired content from multiple servers located in different parts of the world. In this way, you’ll be able to use the platform with ease and enjoy long gaming sessions with no bandwidth throttling or lag.

Waze map disappeared? Get it back in a few easy steps

Waze is one of the biggest GPS navigation software in the world.

A lot of people rely on Waze for their daily routes, traffic info, and driving instructions. The app is mainly used on iOS and Android.

Usually, wazers (waze users) sync their app with the car through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

But sometimes, Waze is not showing the map but only the directions. This is a pretty common problem and a lot of Waze users have complained about it:

After using Waze for years, my map has disappeared. The turn by turn route guidance remains, but that is all. It happened in the middle of a drive. I have an iPhone 6 with the latest iOS.

If you bumped in to the same issue, you’ll be happy to know that there are a few things that you can try.

How do I get my map back on Waze?

1. General troubleshooting steps

waze map not working

  1. Re-download the map.
  2. Completely close the app and then reopen it.
  3. Check if Waze needs to be updated.
  4. Check if your Android/iOS device needs to be updated.
  5. Uninstall the app and then reinstall it from the app store.
  6. Make sure that there’s no problem with your device’s display.

2. Clear the app’s cache

waze map is not showing

  1. On your Android device, go to Settings.
  2. Then tap on Apps & notifications.
  3. In the bottom of the screen select See all apps.
  4. Scroll down until you find Waze and tap on it.
  5. Now select Storage.
  6. You’ll see two buttons: CLEAR CACHE and CLEAR STORAGE.
  7. First, tap on CLEAR CACHE.
  8. Then, tap on CLEAR STORAGE. Confirm by selecting OK.

After clearing the cache and clearing the storage, you’ll have to re-enter your login information, credentials, and set up your preferred settings.

The steps for iOS devices are similar, you’ll just have to look for similar settings/options.

3. Refresh the map from Waze

waze map is blank

  1. Open Waze on your device.
  2. In your search address bar type 2##2 and hit search to enter debug mode.
  3. Now go to Settings > General.
  4. Tap on Refresh map of my area.
  5. Go to your map and start zooming in/out and moving the map to check if the map is refreshing.

If you have this problem when you’re connected to your car (Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), keep in mind that you’ll only see turn-by-turn instructions on your phone and the map on the car’s display.

The map is not displayed automatically in the car, you’ll have to select it.

Waze is an amazing GPS navigation software and many Android/iOS users are preffering it instead of Apple Maps or Google Maps, and for good reason.

The interface is easy to use, the visual and voice instructions are on point, and the customizability is amazing.

So if you’re a Waze fan, hope that the solutions above helped you get rid of the disappearing map bug.

How to use different currencies with Revolut

The Revolut service comes in handy especially when you travel abroad.

You can use it for spending and withdrawing money from ATM’s or exchanging currency at very good rates.

If you’re new to Revolut and don’t know how the currency exchange works and what currencies you should use when you travel in different countries, keep reading this article to find out all you need to know.

How can I use different currencies with Revolut?

1. Currency exchange in Revolut

how to exchange currency in revolut
If you need a certain currency, you can exchange your funds directly from the Revolut app. Just go to the Exchange section in the app and select the currencies that you would like to exchange.

Then, you can spend your money in over 150 currencies with the interbank exchange rate. The Revolut fees are between 0.5% and 1.5%, depending on the time of the week.

Also, for certain currencies a flat mark-up may apply.

The exchange process in the Revolut app is simple and straightforward: you just choose your current currency and convert it into any other currency that you need.

In just a couple of steps you’ll have your money exchanged and you can start spending them.

2. Activate multiple currency accounts

how to use multiple currency accounts in revolut
If you created your Revolut account in a certain currency, let’s say USD, you can also activate multiple accounts with other currencies as well.

As an example, let’s say that you already have a USD account and you also activate and EUR and GBP account.

If you top up the EUR and GBP account from your USD account, you’ll use Revolut’s exchange rates. However, if you top up the two accounts from other EUR and GBP accounts, there will not be any fees.

After that, if you spend your money online or make any transactions with your card, Revolut will automatically use that certain currency and only then your base currency.

For example, if you have the three currency accounts mentioned above and you make a transaction in EUR, Revolut will automatically withdraw money from the EUR account, even if your base currency is USD.

The only time when Revolut will exchange the base currency is when you don’t have sufficient funds in the other currency accounts that you try to use.

As you can see, using the currency exchange and multiple currencies in Revolut is pretty easy. Most of the process will happen automatically, you’ll just have to make sure that the accounts are topped up.

If you have any other suggestions or questions, don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments section below.

Revolut is not compatible with your device? Try these methods

If you don’t know what is Revolut by now, you’re missing out on some financial services that could come in handy.

Revolut is a banking service that offers prepaid debit cards (MasterCard or Visa), currency exchange, cryptocurrency exchange, and peer-to-peer payments.

In other words, Revolut is a mobile app for Android, iOS, and the web, that helps you manage your financials, spend money everywhere and withdraw from ATMs.

The app is very popular worldwide because it charges no fees for the majority of its services.

Despite all this, Revolut is not without any faults. Many smartphone users complain about the inability to use the app because the Your device is not compatible with this version or This app is incompatible with your device errors.

This problem can be pretty annoying, but fortunately, there are a couple of solutions to fix it.

How do I fix app not compatible with Android device?

1. Update your Android device and the Revolut app

revolut app not working
  1. On your Android device go to Settings.
  2. Scroll all the way down and click on System.
  3. Now click on Advanced.
  4. At the bottom of the page you’ll see System update. Click on it.
  5. Your device will automatically search for updates, but you can also click on Check for updates to manually search for them.
  6. If a system update is available, you’ll get the Download and install button. Click on it and wait for the process to finish.
  7. After you update your Android device, check if the Revolut app is working properly.

If you don’t have a system update available, you can check if you have the latest version of the Revolut app. This is pretty simple and you can do it by following the steps:

  1. On your Android device locate Play Store and click on it.
  2. In the Play Store, click on the search box at the top of your screen (Search for apps & games).
  3. Type revolut and click on the search button.
  4. Optionally, you can achieve the same result by clicking on Settings (the three horizontal lines in the search box, top left corner) > My apps & games > look for Revolut.
  5. When Revolut app appears, click on it.
  6. If there’s an update available, you’ll see a green Update button.
  7. Click on it and wait for the process to finish.

After that, your Revolut app should work without any problems. We have to mention that some of the steps and options may be called differently on your device, depending on your Android version.

Just look for similarly named options. The same applies to iOS users.

Keep in mind that the Revolut app is available for iPhones (iOS 8), iPads, or Android (4.2) supported phones with a minimum screen size of 3.5 inches.

2. Clear the cache for Google Play services and Store

revolut app incompatible with device
  1. On your Android device go to Settings.
  2. Find Apps & notifications and click on it.
  3. In the bottom of the screen, click on See all apps.
  4. Now scroll down until you find Google Play services and click on it.
  5. Select Storage.
  6. First, click on CLEAR CACHE and wait for the process to finish. After that, click on CLEAR STORAGE > CLEAR ALL DATA.
  7. After the process finishes, return to the app list and repeat the process for Google Play Store.

If Revolut still doesn’t work as intended, you can apply the same process for the Revolut app (clear cache and data) and this will reset your app and credentials and you’ll have to login again.

3. Use emulator software

If everything else fails, you can use an Android emulator on your Windows 10 PC to run the Revolut app.

These tools will make your system behave like an Android device, thus allowing you to install and run apps that are typically incompatible with your desktop PC. It is a quick solution that will let you access your Revolut account in just a few minutes.

We recommend LDPlayer because it is extremely safe and easy to use. It is an Android emulator that will enable apps like Revolut to install and run on non-android devices.

⇒ Get LDPlayer

As a last resort, you can try to download and install an older Revolut app on your Android device, but you’ll have to download it from unknown sources.

Sometimes, these apps can crash or cause system incompatibilities. If you still want to download a third-party app, do it at your own risk, as we are not responsible and do not recommend the installation of apps from unknown sources.

After following these solutions, your Revolut app should work like a charm. If you have any other suggestions or questions, don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments section below.

Rockstar Games launches new game launcher on Windows and offers GTA: San Andreas for free

Rockstar games has officially released its very own game launcher, allowing the game development company to manage its own digital rights management system and encourage gamers to purchase games from them as opposed to game distributors such as Steam. What’s more, the company is giving away a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as an incentive to get people to jump on its platform.

A move like this not surprising. It’s something that other development companies—Bethesda, EA, and Ubisoft just to name a few—have been doing for some time now. Not only does this give developers a way of managing their own digital rights management system for their games, but also allows them to sell their games without giving a cut to their distributors.

According to TweakTown, it’s possible that Rockstar is also launching the new game launcher as the storefront of its Red Dead Redemption 2 game available on PS4 and Xbox One. If that’s the case, it could suggest that the game is coming to Windows PCs, event if it won’t be distributed on other networks including Steam or the Microsoft Store on Windows 10.

Would you purchase and play game directly from Rockstar, or do you prefer the ease and feature sets of going with other platforms such as Steam? Your thoughts are welcome in the comments area below.

Microsoft’s Connected Vehicle Platform boast a bevy of new service partners

Despite Microsoft Auto Software never really reaching beyond its exclusive deal with Ford Motor Company, the company has pivoted and set its sites on a much broader automotive play that now includes buy-ins from the Volkswagen Group, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Iconiq.

Over the past handful of years, Microsoft’s presence in the in-dash infotainment arena has eroded as the company has embarked on a mission beyond being the part of the consumer-facing automotive experience but instead becoming the semi-standard cloud mesh service solution for car manufacturers and mobility-as-a-service providers.

A couple of days ago, Microsoft rolled out its evolving Connected Vehicle Platform (MCVP) at the Frankfurt Auto Show, IAA and the company offered up new details on the following “value-add” services automotive OEM’s can plug into their next vehicle designs:

  • In-vehicle experiences
  • Autonomous driving
  • Advanced navigation
  • Customer engagement and insights
  • Telematics and prediction services
  • Connectivity and over the air updates (OTA)

The aforementioned list is comprised of about 40 various Azure services tailored specifically for the automotive experience while delivering cloud functionality to vehicles such as over-the-air (OTA) updates and optimizations and two-way network connectivity, to name a few.

With MCVP, and an ecosystem of partners across the industry, Microsoft offers a consistent platform across all digital services. This includes vehicle provisioning, two-way network connectivity, continuous over-the-air updates of containerized functionality, support for command-and-control, hot, warm, or cold path for telematics, and extension hooks for customer or third-party differentiation. Being built on Azure, MCVP includes the hyper-scale, global availability, and regulatory compliance that comes as part of the Azure cloud. OEMs and fleet operators leverage MCVP as a way to “move up the stack” and focus on their customers rather than spend resources on non-differentiating infrastructure.

On showcase at IAA last week, Microsoft leveraged specific partnerships to highlight the new value-adds highlighting LG Electronics and Faurecia use of  MCVO’s container-based runtime environments to create custom digital experiences for both the driver and passengers in a vehicle or cockpit.

Teraki and TomTom utilized similar containerized functionality to make use of Azure ML to leverage telemetry, video, 3D information, and other sensory data into feedback and context for mapping and vehicle performance.

TomTom and Telenav are among Microsoft partners who use MCVP’s in-vehicle computer architecture to provide diagnostics to create data-driven insights to drivers

Microsoft’s Connected Vehicle Platform boast a bevy of new service partners

As for actual driver engagement, Otonomo’s existing ecosystem is supporting MCVP for a secure transferring of driver data between the two services. On the vehicle side, DSA and WirelessCar are partnering to make state-of-the-art mobility services that help to close the “feedback loop between production facilities and field cars” while also expediting the eco-system development of OEM’s by making sense of telematics and prediction services.

Lastly, Cubic Telecom, Excelforce, and Tata Communications are partnering with MCVP to create a real-time connectivity window between infotainment service providers, car manufacturers and drivers utilizing deep integration, OTA updates and IoT connectivity capabilities.

Microsoft’s MCVP may not be as dazzling as getting the latest version of Spotify on an in-dash screen, but its play to position itself between car OEM’s, the underlying platform developers target and drivers with its stable of Azure-powered connected services could become an exciting story as vehicles continue to become more tech riddled in the future.

More than 500 Xbox games and DLCs discounted this week with Rockstar Games, Square Enix and Extended Play Sale

The Microsoft Store is hosting a rather hefty list of game promotions right now. More than 500 game titles and downloadable content are free this week, including AAA titles from Rockstar Games and Square Enix.

Rockstar Games is taking half off most of their game titles. This puts the long-popular crime-focused action game Grand Theft Auto V to just $14.99 right now, and the crime thriller L.A. Noire is also on sale for just $19.99. The Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 can also be owned for only $49.99—less than the non-sale $59.99 price of the standard game, which is also on sale for $34.99 (40% off).

Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One)
Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One)

Square Enix is also running a publisher sale of its own. The 20th anniversary edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider is just $8.99, well below its initial list price of $59.99. The first season of Life is Strange 2 is also just $26.79 (33% off) this week, and those just getting into the franchise can purchase the first season for only $3.99. Another title that might deserve a link is Just Cause 4—which is 67% off right now—making the Standard, Deluxe, and Gold editions of the game just $19.79, $23.09,  and $29.69 respectively.

And of course, Microsoft hasn’t forgotten its Xbox Live Gold members, either. A couple interesting titles that are on sale exclusively for subscribers include Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled which is taking a $10 discount down to $29.99, and well as Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, which is available for just $13.19 right now (67% off).

Wi-Fi 6 gets certified, marks new milestone in adoption of a faster wireless standard

With technologies such as IoT, AR, and even game streaming on the rise, it’s clear that wireless network are going to need to support the low-latency and high-bandwidth requirements that help make them possible. As such, our wireless networks need to be able to handle the heavy load of tasks when such technologies become mainstream especially among multiple users at once, and that’s where the next generation Wi-Fi network comes in.

Wi-Fi 6 was just officially certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, “bringing advanced capabilities for greater overall Wi-Fi network performance” according to the organization’s official tweet. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10’s already support the new standard, and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 11 models will support them as well.

Wi-Fi 6 (more technically IEEE 802.11ax) includes a lot more capacity than it’s previous generation counterpart, 802.11ac (more commonly known as Wi-Fi 5), promising up to a 40% boost in maximum data speeds. In addition to bandwidth improvements, Wi-Fi 6 also introduces latency improvements, which could prove very beneficial to adopters of online gaming streaming services such as Project xCloud under development by Microsoft.

While the crazy speeds definitely sound very nice in themselves, it’s unlikely for smaller households to really notice most its improvements. The real benefits come to public networks that are often well overcrowded. Not to sound too technical, but these changes include technologies such as orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) which allows multiple devices to share the same channels, as well as multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) for improving downlink and distributing data between more devices. The organization’s official website has more on the improvements, for those interested.

Are you hyped about the new Wi-Fi 6 standard? What are some ways you’d like to take advantage of its improvements? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments area below.

Uplay doesn’t recognize installed games on Windows 10/11

Nowadays, Windows 10 gamers like to play their games through digital distribution services like Steam and Uplay.

It is much easier to have access to a game library at all times, keep your games updated and organized, and have them all in one place.

But sometimes, problems can occur with already installed games and the Uplay client. If you are an Uplay user and the client doesn’t detect your installed games, take a look at the solutions below.

Uplay game not showing up in library

1. General troubleshooting steps

  1. Make sure that your game is not connected to another Ubisoft Account. If you’ve created or logged in with a secondary account, log in to that account and check if the game is in the game library.
  2. Make sure that your game is not hidden. In Uplay PC you have the option to hide games from the library. Scroll to the bottom of your Uplay PC game library and expand the Hidden section to check if your game is there.
  3. Empty the cache folder for Uplay PC. Close Uplay > navigate to the Uplay default directory > find and rename the cache folder to something else > relaunch Uplay PC and check if the problem is still present.

2. Choose the right game directory

uplay not discovering games on windows 10
  1. Open Uplay on your Windows 10 PC and log in.
  2. Now go to your games library in the Uplay client and locate the game that you want to detect.
  3. Click on the game.
  4. On the game page, under the Download button, you’ll see a Locate installed game button.
  5. Click on Locate installed game and then manually select the installation directory of your game.
  6. Now click OK.

After that, you should be able to update and launch the game through Uplay PC. Alternatively, you can use the Download button:

  1. First, back up your games, just in case something goes wrong.
  2. After that, open Uplay and log in.
  3. Go to your games library and click on the game you want to detect.
  4. Now you’ll see a Download button.
  5. Click on it.
  6. Now point the Uplay installer at the game directory.
  7. Uplay should now Discover Files… and it should show your game as installed.

A lot of Uplay users had the same problem but managed to solve it by using this method, so you can try it as it might fix the issue for you too.

3. Uplay not detecting Steam installed games

  1. Close Uplay. If needed, open Task Manager and end any Uplay related processes.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Navigate to your default Uplay PC directory (usually C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launchercache).
  4. Now locate and delete the Ownership folder.
  5. Restart Uplay PC.
  6. Try to launch the game again from Steam.

4. Move your games to another partition

If the previous solutions didn’t work, as a last resort, you can try to move your games to another drive/partition and reinstall Uplay on your Windows 10 PC.

We’ve already covered how to move Uplay games to another drive/partition in this dedicated guide, so be sure to check it out and follow the steps there.

After moving your games to another partition and reinstalling Uplay on your PC, they should be automatically discovered.

Keep in mind that you should first try to use the Locate installed games and Download buttons from the Uplay client, as many users solved the problem in this manner.

Moreover, you also can split your hard drive into more partitions and separate system files from other applications or games, and thus better sort out files.

In case you need extensive support regarding partition operations to easily transfer data, you can always use partition manager software.

Gears 5 had the biggest launch week of of any Xbox Game Studios title this generation

Gears 5, the latest blockbuster game coming from Xbox Game Studios had the biggest launch for any first-party game for this console generation, Microsoft announced today. That’s not really surprising considering Microsoft has been promoting the game like crazy, providing great fan service by including characters from Halo: Reach, Terminator: Dark Fate, and even Dave Bautista himself.

“The performance easily doubled the first week’s debut of Gears of War 4 and made Gears 5 the most-played Xbox Game Studios title in its first week since 2012’s Halo 4. First week performance includes the four-day early access period beginning Friday, September 6, which was exclusive to Gears 5 Ultimate Edition and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. On the PC, Gears 5 has nearly tripled the performance of its predecessor, becoming the biggest-ever launch for Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Studios’ best-ever debut on Steam,” wrote Aaron Greenberg, Xbox Games Marketing General Manager.

Gears 5 received great reviews upon release, and we reported last week that it beat Fortnite as the most played game on Xbox One. That’s no longer the case following the release of Borderlands 3 on Friday, but Gears 5 developer The Coalition has already detailed its extensive post-launch support plans with a series of “Operations,” each lasting 3 months.

As usual, Microsoft isn’t sharing any data about how many Gears 5 units it sold since launch, and it’s highly likely that making the game available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day has been cannibalizing game sales. However, getting gamers jump on the Xbox Game Pass bandwagon is probably what Microsoft really cares about, and Gears 5 is probably an excellent bait for that.

If you haven’t done it yet, we remind you that you can get two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for just $2, which will give you access to Xbox Game Pass for console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Live Gold. With so many games on the Game Pass catalog, that’s really a deal you don’t want to miss.

Microsoft acknowledges issues with Intel and Broadcom Wi-Fi adapters on Windows 10 version 1903

In an announcement on Twitter, Microsoft acknowledged via Windows Update that there are issues on Windows 10 version 1903 involving Intel and Broadcom Wi-Fi adapters.

As noted on the Microsoft Docs website for Windows 10 version 1903, Microsoft details the Wi-Fi issue..

“Microsoft and NEC have found incompatibility issues with Intel Centrino 6205/6235 and Broadcom 802.11ac Wi-Fi cards when running Windows 10, version 1903 on specific models of NEC devices. If these devices are updated to Windows 10, version 1903, they will no longer be able to use any Wi-Fi connections. The Wi-Fi driver may have a yellow exclamation point in device manager. The task tray icon for networking may show the icon for no internet and Network & Internet settings may not show any Wi-Fi networks. To safeguard your update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on the affected devices from being offered Windows 10, version 1903.”

Microsoft added that there is a workaround for those affected by the issue. All you need to do is disable and then re-enable the Wi-FI adapter in Device Manager. This will allow you to use Wi-Fi until the next time you reboot your Windows 10 PC. Upon reboot, you will have to complete the process again to enable Wi-Fi. Microsoft is working on a fix for this issue, which will be available in a future Windows 10 update.

Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 3 will reportedly have a 15″ variant with an AMD CPU

Microsoft’s upcoming Surface event in New York on October 2 may bring some good surprises for fans of the company’s Surface Laptop line. Citing information coming from European retailers, Roland Quandt from German website WinFuture.de claims that Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop 3 will be available for the first time in a 15” variant. Interestingly, this 15” model will be powered by an AMD processor, which would be a first for a Surface product.

According to the report, Microsoft may offer three three AMD-based models of the Surface Laptop 3 with a 15-inch display, but it’s still not clear if there also could be Intel variants of the new 15” Surface Laptop 3. The 13” model is expected to stick with Intel processors, though an AMD variant may also be on the table.

While not as popular as Intel CPUs, AMD processors are usually cheaper and come with much better integrated GPUs. Earlier this year, the chip maker unveiled 2nd Gen Ryzen PRO mobile processors, which are 12nm chips with fast integrated Radeon Vega graphics. Anyway, a 15″ Surface Laptop 3 should be an interesting alternative to the 15″ Surface Book 2, which has a detachable form factor that may not be that attractive for people who are not creative professionnals.

According to AdDuplex’s numbers from last year, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 2 and its predecessor have been far less popular than the Surface Pro 6 and the more affordable Surface Go. Maybe AMD processors and a new 15″ model will help to shake things up, but as pretty much all premium laptops now come with multiple USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, it’s time for Microsoft to finally ditch its proprietary Surface connector and switch to these more versatile options.

How can an attacker get access to your files?

Computer user - windows image file handling information disclosure vulnerability
This specific vulnerability can be caused by your computer system by conflicting memory operations being performed while modifying PNG (.png) image files.

An attacker can use this opening in your security to convince you that the links or files they created are genuine original files.

If you fall into the trap and click/open one of the links/files, then the attacker gets access. He does so by exploiting the faulty way your PC is processing the information required.

If this point is reached, then (depending on your PC‘s security settings), the attacker might get access to sensitive files on your PC.

What can you do to keep your computer’s data safe?

keyboard - windows image file handling information disclosure vulnerability
Microsoft has released a series of actions that the user with administrator privileges could take to prevent the vulnerability affecting your privacy.

Here are some of the best actions you can take to make sure that never happens:

  • Update your system to the latest Windows 10 release.
  • Allow access to the network only to trusted users.
  • Use the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) tool
  • Configure the Microsoft Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) to work with the problematic software.
  • Avoid opening email messages from suspicious sources.

Keyboard stops working when playing Uplay games

If we’re talking about gaming, peripherals problems are the most common.

From mice and keyboards to speakers and headsets, every Windows 10 gamer has had at least one problem with them.

That’s because when you play games, you tend to overuse your peripherals and push them to the limit. And that’s OK because you get some kind of use out of them.

But what do you do when your keyboard stops working for no reason at all?

That’s a pretty annoying situation and exactly the issue that many Uplay gamers report more often than not. Many of them said that when playing a game on their Windows 10 PC, the keyboard simply stops responding.

If you’ve bumped into the same problem, keep reading to find out how to solve it.

How can I fix the keyboard if it stops working in Uplay games?

1. Common checks

  1. If you’re using a wired keyboard, make sure that nothing’s wrong with the cable.
  2. Plug your keyboard into another USB port.
  3. If you’re using a Bluetooth keyboard, make sure that it didn’t disconnect from your PC.
  4. Check the battery level of the keyboard.
  5. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > scroll down until you see Keyboard > click on it > click on Run the troubleshooter. If there’s a problem with the keyboard, the Keyboard troubleshooter may be able to fix it.

2. Disable overlays

It seems like Uplay and Ubisoft games don’t get along very well with overlays.

If you’re using Discord, Mumble, or Twitch, make sure to disable their overlays. Whenever the issue happens, check your background apps and overlays because one of them is probably the cause.

Many Uplay gamers solved the problem by disabling the Discord overlay. We recommend you to try it as well, as it may solve your problem.

3. Start the game with administrative rights

how to fix keyboard not working in uplay games
  1. If you’re experiencing the problem in a certain game, close it. Also, close Uplay.
  2. Now go to the installation folder of the game.
  3. Right-click on its shortcut (game.exe) and click on “Run as administrator.”
  4. The game should start normally and your keyboard problem should be gone.

Keep in mind that this is only a workaround and you’ll have to repeat it every time you open the game. If you want a more permanent fix, you can set the game to always start with administrative rights:

  1. Locate the game’s shortcut and right-click on it.
  2. Select Proprieties.
  3. Now click on the Compatibility tab.
  4. Under Settings, check the Run this program as an administrator option.
  5. Click Apply and then OK.

4. Update your keyboard driver

uplay keyboard not responding
  1. In your Windows search box, type “device” and click on the first result. Alternatively, you can press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
  2. In Device Manager, locate your keyboard driver and right-click it.
  3. Now click on Update Driver.
  4. In the window that appears, click on “Search automatically for updated driver software.”
  5. When a new driver is found, install it.

Check that you’re using the most recent versions of your drivers. A computer cannot manage video cards, computer programs, sound cards, or other hardware; they must be managed by a driver.

There are third-party tools that can do this for you automatically. Otherwise, doing it manually takes time and requires extensive knowledge of the drivers you’re looking for.

You may rely on Fortect Driver Updater to make such changes to ensure a proper update with the most recent keyboard drivers suitable for your PC. With a few clicks, the software will scan your PC’s hardware and peripherals for potential driver upgrades.

⇒ Get Fortect Driver Updater

You can also try to reinstall the Uplay client, but a lot of users have already tried that with no success. Your best bet is to run the game with administrative rights or disable overlays.

After following these steps, your keyboard should work just fine in Uplay and in Ubisoft games.

FIX: Microsoft Publisher won’t send emails

Microsoft Publisher includes options for sending documents in emails. That application enables users to send embedded newsletter documents in emails to contacts. However, Publisher’s embedded email feature doesn’t always work for some users. Publisher cannot complete the operation is one error message that might pop up when users can’t send emails with the application. Here are a few troubleshooting tips for fixing Publisher when it doesn’t send emails.

How to Fix Publisher’s Emailing

1. Select Outlook as the Default Email Software

  1. Outlook must be Windows’ default email software for users to send documents within Publisher. To change the default mail software in Windows 10, click the Type here to search button.
  2. Then enter the keyword ‘default’ in the search box.
  3. Select Default apps to open the window shown directly below. The Default apps tab microsoft publisher won't send email
  4. Click the current default Mail app to open the Choose an application window.Choose an application window microsoft publisher won't send email
  5. Select Outlook to be the default email software.

2. Check the Publisher and Outlook Versions Match

Users won’t be able to send embedded document emails from Publisher if they don’t have matching Publisher and Outlook versions. For example, users with Publisher 2013 will need Outlook 2013. So, some users might need to check that their Publisher and Outlook versions match up.

MS Publisher microsoft publisher won't send email

Users who have updated their Outlook software might need to revert back to the previous versions that match the Publisher applications they’re utilzing, or vice versa. Uninstall the more update software, and then reinstall the old Outlook or Publisher versions.

3. Change the Document’s Fonts

Errors can arise when users try to send Publisher document emails that include non-standard web fonts and formatting. Publisher sends newsletter emails with HTML formatting. Thus, some users might need to replace unusual fonts in the documents they’re trying to send with standard web fonts. Arial, Times New Roman, Helvetica, and Times are some of the most standard web fonts.

Note that it’s better to utilize Publisher’s email newsletter templates for emailing documents with the application. Those are HTML formatted newsletters that should work just fine with Publisher’s embedded email feature. To do that, select E-mail and Newsletter within Publisher’s template type list.

4. Repair MS Office

  1. Some Publisher users have confirmed they’ve fixed Publisher cannot complete the operation errors for sending emails with MS Office’s repair utility. Users can do that by opening Run with its Windows key + R keyboard shortcut.
  2. Open Programs and Features by entering ‘appwiz.cpl’ in Run and clicking OK.The Windows uninstaller microsoft publisher won't send email
  3. Select the MS Office suite in Programs and Features.
  4. Select the Change option. The Change button microsoft publisher won't send email
  5. Users can then select either a Quick Repair or Online Repair option. Select the more thorough Online Repair option.
  6. If it’s an MSI-based Office, users will need to select the Repair option; and then click the Continue button.

5. Send the Email as a PDF Attachment

If the above fixes don’t do the trick, try sending the document as a PDF email attachment from Publisher instead, which is usually a more reliable method. The PDF will also retain the exact formatting of the Publisher document. To do that, click File, Share, and E-mail within Publisher; and then select the Send as PDF option.

The Send as PDF button microsoft publisher won't send email

The resolutions above might fix Publisher’s email feature for some users. Remember, however, that users can also send email newsletters with web apps such as MailChimp.

System restore error: Specify which Windows installation to restore

Every time files get corrupted on your PC, or you make an irreversible change you wish you didn’t, you can always count on using System restore.

The problem is that not even the System Restore feature is foolproof, and errors can be encountered along the way.

One good example is when a corrupted system file is detected during the restore process.

If that happens, you might be prompted with an error message labeled: To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore.

What causes this error?

  • Corrupted system files caused by mishandling of your files, faulty installation and even malware.
  • BCD corruption, a.k.a. a Boot Configuration Data corruption, can be the cause of the error since this is where all the boot data is being stored.

FIX: Specify which Windows installation to restore

1. Perform a CHKDSK

  1. Perform a system boot
  2. When the Windows logo appears, press F8, taking you to the Recovery Options
  3. In the Recovery Options, select Troubleshoot
  4. From here, choose Advanced Options
  5. Select Command Prompt.
  6. Check the integrity of your volumes.
  7. You will need to scan the Primary Partition type volumes
  8. Type in the following command (replace C: accordingly): chkdsk C: /offlinescanandfix

2. Perform a SFC scan

  1. Click Start
  2. Type Run in the search bar
  3. If you don’t already know which partition is your system drive, when the command prompt appears type in the following:
    • Cd /
    • Dir
  4. If you see the Users folder in the list, this means that that is your system drive. If you don’t see the folder, change your drive by typing alphabets of your volumes, for example G:
  5. After you’ve found your system volume, in the command prompt, type in the following, (where C: is your system drive.):
    • sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C: /offwindir=C:Windows

3. Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management

  1. Click Start
  2. Type Run in the search bar
  3. When the command prompt appears, type in the following (here, C: is your system volume):
    • DISM /Image:C:Windows /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth/Source:C:WindowsWinSxS
  4. If an error is shown,  insert a windows bootable USB or DVD and then type in the following:
    • DISM /Image:C:Windows /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:SourcesInstall.esd:1 /limitaccess
  5. In this line, E: is the removable drive meaning USB drive or DVD drive
  6. In a few cases, the install.esd may be install.wim. If that’s the case, enter the following command:
    • DISM /Image:C:Windows /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:E:SourcesInstall.wim /limitaccess

4. Use Bootrec

  1. Click Start
  2. Type Run in the search bar
  3. When the command prompt appears, type in the following:
    • BootRec /Fixmbr

Surface Pro 7 may launch with an Intel Core i3 variant according to new leak

As we’re getting closer to Microsoft’s next Surface event on October 2, Roland Quandt from German blog WinFuture.de apparently got a tip from European retailers detailing all the different configurations of Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Pro 7. According to the report, Microsoft plans to offer Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 variants of the new tablet, with the i3 model serving as the entry model.

Here are the five different Surface Pro 7 models that will be available at launch according to WinFuture:

  • Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i3, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
  • Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD

Microsoft offering a Core i3 variant of the Surface Pro 7 is quite interesting, especially since the Surface Pro 6 was only available with Core i5 or Core i7 chips. As you may recall, the Surface Pro 3 from 2014 was the last Surface model to be offered with a Core i3 processor, while the Surface Pro 4 and 5 were available with a Core m3 processor, a low-power chip that didn’t require a fan. However, design improvements from the Surface team later gave us fanless designs for the Core i5 Surface Pro 5 and 6.

According to various reports, Microsoft may also introduce a Surface Pro with an ARM processor codenamed “Excalibur” next month. Qualcomm is launching its new Snapdragon 8cx SoC this Fall that has been designed for the ground up for Always Connected PC, but “Excalibur” could actually be the name of a custom-designed SoC from Microsoft.

“Unlike previous attempts with ARM, I am told that Microsoft worked extremely closely with Qualcomm to build this chipset, based on their own specifications, to design a chip that would work better with Windows 10,” wrote Brad Sams on Petri.com today. “This new SoC may be used as a reference device for other OEMs who are looking to use the 8cx (or similar) in upcoming products.”

We won’t have to wait much longer to get all the details about the Surface Pro 7 and other new Surface devices from Microsoft, though we hope 2019 is the year Microsoft finally embraces USB-C across the whole Surface family. The company may also use this event to reveal Windows Lite and its “Centaurus” dual-screen device, and we may also see new accessories such as a Surface-branded earbuds and a connected speaker for the enterprise.
