Google is now looking to redesign its interface and provide much more to its users on top of the search bar and doodles. The brand new layout termed “new Google.com” features a set of five new cards. Google is testing out these widgets widely as per the reports that have surfaced recently confirming the same. (via 9to5Google)

According to the reports by the users that have experienced this new homepage, right off the bat is a Meet the new Google.com card which prompts the user to sign in to the Google account in order to customize their experience with it based on preferences.

Once logged in, you will come across a Make the space yours button. You will be redirected to a “Hi, What are you interested in?” which in essence helps you customize the widgets based on your needs.

In the recent past, we have seen the Windows 11 Taskbar receive a ton of updates in an attempt to enhance the user experience. The most recent one is a new overflow menu designed to make it easier for users to launch and switch apps when space is limited.

A Reddit user u/caipira113 spotted what appeared to be a new undocumented feature, rounded corners in the Taskbar (via Neowin). The rounded Taskbar appeared for the user upon downloading Windows 11 build 25174.1000 from the Dev Channel. They had earlier alluded that this was the same case with the 25131 build which featured several Microsoft Store updates but this time around there’s evidence to back up this claim as shown below.

However, Brandon LeBlanc, a Senior Program Manager on the Windows Insider Program Team through a tweet has come out and confirmed that this “looks like” a bug and that they are not conducting any A/B testing.

The Reddit user further indicated that the rounded corners appeared randomly and did not disappear even after trying to update the display driver. DuckDuckGo will now block Microsoft scripts in their browsers too, after controversy

In May, we saw DuckDuckGo receive backlash from some users over its syndication agreement with Microsoft because it did not block Microsoft data flows, for LinkedIn or Bing. DuckDuckGo’s CEO, Gabriel Weinberg addressed the issues and indicated that they blocked most third-party trackers, however, their partnership with Microsoft limited their reach as far as Microsoft-owned properties were concerned.

But as it now appears, DuckDuckGo will now start blocking Microsoft tracking scripts on third-party websites too. This will expand its 3rd-Party Tracker Loading Protection, which already blocks identified tracking scripts from Facebook, Google, and other companies from loading on third-party websites.

With this system in place, users will be able to have some level of control as DuckDuckGo’s 3rd-Party Tracker Loading Protection will prevent 3rd-party trackers from launching completely. In turn, this reduces your susceptibility to security breaches where attackers are able to establish your IP address as well as other identifiers that come with loading requests that generally expose you to profiling. Ultimately enhancing your security.

Gabriel Weinberg further indicated in the blog post that, “we were limited in how we could apply our 3rd-Party Tracker Loading Protection on Microsoft tracking scripts due to a policy requirement related to our use of Bing as a source for our private search results. We’re glad this is no longer the case. We have not had, and do not have, any similar limitation with any other company”. He further indicated that Microsoft scripts were not embedded in the user’s search engine or applications and that they did not receive any personal information regarding users from this premise.

But as spotted by The Verge, DuckDuckGo will not block scripts for bat.bing.com that load directly after a user clicks on ad (this is not applicable in other cases) because they are used on advertisers’ sites to measure the level of ad effectiveness. However, you can opt out of this arrangement by choosing to disable ads via the browser’s search settings.

Despite its partnership with Microsoft when it comes to advertising, viewing of the ads will remain anonymous and Microsoft has further ascertained that users will not be profiled based on the ad clicks they make. The information gathered will be strictly restricted to accounting:

Advertising on DuckDuckGo is done in partnership with Microsoft. Viewing ads on DuckDuckGo is anonymous, and Microsoft has committed to not profile our users on ad clicks: “when you click on a Microsoft-provided ad that appears on DuckDuckGo, Microsoft Advertising does not associate your ad-click behavior with a user profile. It also does not store or share that information other than for accounting purposes.”

DuckDuckGo is also working on “an architecture for private ad conversions” which will help sever its ties and dependence on bat.bing.com when it comes to establishing the effectiveness of ads, instead, have it externally validated as non-profiling.

The browser strives to raise the standard of trust online by maximizing the user’s privacy. As such, they have publicized their browser extensions and non-beta apps and the tracker protection list as well as their Tracker Radar. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) from the list and click on the Properties button.
Check Use the following DNS server addresses and set the Preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and the Alternate DNS server to 8.8.4.4. Click OK to save the changes.

3. Update your audio drivers

Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
Expand Audios inputs and outputs, right-click on your audio driver, and select Update driver.

This sounds like an unusual solution, but users have reported that plugging in your headphones or speakers to the audio jack while playing YouTube videos fixes this problem.

Usually, there is a red cross sign on the volume control icon in Taskbar, and if you notice it, reconnect your speakers or headphones and try playing YouTube videos again.

8. Uninstall/repair Bitdefender

Click on the Start menu, type control panel, and select the Uninstall a program option.

Xbox Series S games will be seeing a performance boost in the near future thanks to a new software development kit for Xbox.

The June 2022 Game Development Kit (GDK) will give developers access to more memory when optimizing games for Series S. How much more memory? “Hundreds of additional megabytes of memory are now available to Xbox Series S developers,” according to the “What’s new for 2022 GDK” video published on YouTube on August 4.

The additional memory will allow developers to better optimize games for the less powerful next-gen Xbox, which has 10 GB of RAM compared to the 16 GB of the Series X. The Series S also utilizes far less GPU power than its sibling, though the two systems have the same CPU.

Hopefully these and possible future enhancements will allow the Series S to keep up as the new console generation evolves and games become more and more demanding of resources.

Where does Ubisoft Connect install Games?

By default, Ubisoft Connect will install games in the following location:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/Ubisoft Game Launcher/games/

However, you can change it from the settings and set it to a different folder. Some games are installed via Steam as well. In this case, you can find these games in the Steam game folder. It is usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

Can I move my Games from one drive to another?

How do you move game install in Ubisoft Connect?

1. Manually move the game files

Open Windows Task Manager by pressing CTRL + ALT + Del.
Select Ubisoft process and click on End task.
Go to your Ubisoft connect installation folder and copy the folder where games are installed.
Paste it to your desired drive.
Launch Ubisoft Connect and go to its Settings.
Go to the Downloads tab.
Then, change the game installation folder location to the new drive where you have pasted the games.
Close Ubisoft and relaunch it.
Go to Games and then My Games.
Go to a Game that you had installed.
You will get an option something like Locate installed game.
Click on it and point it to the new location.
Ubisoft will verify the installation files and show you a message like: All game files have been successfully validated.

If you have multiple games, you’ll have to repeat the process for each one. This method works well if you want to move the Ubisoft game location to a different folder or to a different drive.

2. Move Ubisoft Connect games to another PC by reinstalling the client

Download Ubisoft Connect.
After that, run the installer with Administrator rights.
Follow the on-screen steps from the installation wizard and after it finishes, restart your PC.
Now you’ll have to manually back up Ubisoft save files. On the old PC, go to Ubisoft Connect’s default installation directory and locate the savegames folder.
Right-click the savegames folder and select Copy.
Paste the folder on a flash drive to move it to the new PC.
Insert the flash drive into the new PC and copy the savegames folder into the Ubisoft Game Launcher folder.
