USB Selective Suspend on Windows 11: How to Enable it

Selective suspend is one of the programs that helps Windows laptops conserve energy and extend their span. Whenever the Selective suspend runs, it stops the USB port to save power.

The USB selective suspend setting enable or disable feature determines whether your computer will recognize or read any USB devices you have connected.

Likewise, users complain about the USB selective suspend Windows 11 missing. So, we’ll discuss how to enable and disable the USB selective suspend on Windows 11.

What does the USB Selective suspend setting do?

The USB Selective suspend settings in Windows 10/11 determine which USB device the computer to turn off to save power. Some USB devices connected to your ports are set in a low-power state, which minimizes unnecessary power consumption.

Hence, Select suspend is a system that helps your computer select and choose which USB devices to turn off when they are inactive.

However, the USB Selective suspend feature isn’t necessary when the computer charges, but it is more functional while on battery power.

You won’t find this feature on a PC because it has no battery. So, if you have a PC, the guide is not for you.

Can you overload a USB port?

The simple answer to the question is Yes. Although a single USB host controller can support up to 127 connected devices, it may run out of bandwidth if many devices are used simultaneously.

Hence, it can lead to overloading. Consequently, overloading a USB port can result in temporary shutdown and permanent damage to both the host and the USB peripherals.

However, a single USB hub counts as a USB device address. Every device connected to the USB hub adds to the number of allowed addresses for a single host controller.

It means the number of devices on the USB hub counts towards the allowed USB addresses allocated to that host controller.

So, if the allocated USB address is filled and many devices are used simultaneously, it can cause overloading. Users may be interested in how to turn off the S-mode in Windows 11.

5 Ways to Fix the System Reserved Partition Not on SSD Issue

System Reserved partition is created in a computer disk whenever Windows Operating System (OS) is installed. It usually occupied the unallocated space of the disk.

The files in this partition are typically inconspicuous as they normally cannot be found among typical files in File Explorer. This is to prevent deleting them mistakenly, and that could cause issues for your system.

The sizes of the files stored in the System Reserved partition vary along with the version of Windows OS installed. For instance, the size of such files in Windows 7 is approximately 100MB. It may be as high as 500MB in some other iterations like Windows 10.

Why does my PC need a System Reserved partition?

The System Reserved partition houses the Boot Manager Code, Boot Configuration Database (BCD), and Windows Recovery Environment. It also has some reserved space for files to startup your system when you use BitLocker to encrypt your disk.

  • Boot Manager and BCD – There are two major files in here: The bootmgr file and the BOOTSECT.BAK file. When any or both of these files are missing, the computer will be unable to start. This is the reason you might be experiencing the same issue at present.
  • Startup files for BitLocker Drive Encryption – In case you had encrypted your hard drive with BitLocker, Windows will use unencrypted files stored in the System Reserved partition to boot successfully.

Without further ado, let’s see what you can do if the System Reserved partition is not on your PC’s SSD. Follow along!

What can I do if my System Reserved partition is not on my computer’s SSD?

1. Use Disk Management

  1. Launch Run by pressing Windows key + R. Type the command below or copy and paste (to avoid errors): diskmgmt.msc
  2. In the Disk Management window, there will be a list of available disks and colors representing whether allocated or not.
  3. Select the disk you will prefer the System Reserved partition to be stored. Next, right-click on the unallocated space on the disk. Select New Simple Volume. Then follow the system prompt to finish the setup.
  4. In an instance whereby there is no unallocated space on the disk of your choice, you can first Shrink Volume of the partition.
  5. Assign a letter to the new and original System Reserved partition. This will make them accessible in File Explorer.
  6. Next, copy all the files in the old including bootmgr, BOOTSECT.BAK and the Boot folder. Paste them into the newly created System Reserve partition.
  7. Remove the letters assigned to the partitions (old and new). Then select Mark Partition as Active for the new System Reserve partition to be bootable.
  8. Now, restart your PC. If it starts without any issue, then, you can delete the old System Reserved partition.

2. Remove your antivirus

  1. Press Windows + I then go to the Apps section followed by Apps & features.apps-features salesforce not loading in chrome
  2. Search for your antivirus program, click the three-dot button next to it and select Uninstall.unisntall-avast System reserved partition not on ssd

There are certain independent anti-virus and security applications that write to the SRP, which might cause it to get full. As a result, we strongly suggest that you remove your current antivirus software.

3. Reset the PC

  1. Open the Windows Settings by pressing the Windows key + I. Then select System followed by Recovery.
  2. Select Reset PC.
  3. Choose the preferred option whether to Keep files or Remove everything.
  4. Follow the System Prompt to complete the Reset.

4. Restart the system from a USB drive

  1. Download Windows Installation Media to a bootable USB drive. If you are not sure how to do that, check out our guide on how to create a bootable USB drive.
  2. Open Settings by pressing Windows key + I. Then select System followed by Recovery.
  3. In the Advanced startup, select Restart now.
  4. Plug the USB drive into your system.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to set up your PC.
  6. When prompted to choose Which type of Installation do you want? select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced). If you get a driver error at this stage, restart the setup process.custom-install system-reserved-partition-not-on-ssd
  7. Choose the partition to install Windows. In case there is more than one available, delete others and leave the one at the top usually Drive 0.
  8. When you get the prompt To ensure Windows features work correctly, Windows might create additional partitions for system files. Select OK.
  9. Wait for Windows to complete installation.

5. Use dedicated tools

To save the stress in the method highlighted above, you can make use of third-party dedicated tools like AOMEI Partition Assistant, Paragon Partition Manager, among others.

Aside from the fact that these tools can help you with the migration of your System Reserved partition files, they are also efficient in helping you back up and restore system files.

Due to the possibility of complications during the execution of the processes highlighted above, it is advisable to back up your system files before using any of them. This will make it easy to restore system settings and files if there is an issue.

Let’s know if this method works for you. Don’t hesitate to share any alternative method that helped fixed the problem on your computer.

How to Transition from Aperture to Lightroom on Mac

As you might know, Aperture doesn’t work in the latest version of Mac OS. For that reason, users had to switch to a different application for photo management software.

Many users switched to Lightroom, and in this article, we’ll show you how to migrate from Aperture to Lightroom.

Quick Tip:

For the procedure to go as smoothly as planned, make sure that you’re using the latest Photoshop Lightroom version.

You plan to migrate full-size JPEG previews of your edited images and all your metadata – flags, star ratings, keywords, GPS data, faces, info panel, hidden files, and Aperture color labels included.

Therefore, it isn’t the ideal time to take any chances. Just visit the official Adobe page and hit the Download button with no hesitation.

How can I migrate from Aperture to Lightroom?

1. Use the Lightroom plug-in

Adobe Lightroom
  1. 1. Launch Lightroom.

  2. 2. Choose File.

  3. 3. Select Plug-in Extras.

  4. 4. Choose to Import from Aperture Library.

  5. 5. Your libraries should be detected automatically. If you want, you can click the Options button to configure the process further.

  6. 6. Now click the Import button.

  7. 7. Bear in mind that the process to migrate from Aperture to Lightroom could take a while depending on the number of data that you have, so be patient.

  8. Migrating from Aperture to Lightroom used to be a complicated process, especially since you had to do it manually, but Lightroom developers decided to streamline it.

They developed a special automated tool that helps you transfer your photos. By using this tool you’ll import your images as well as metadata to Lightroom with ease, as described above.

It’s worth mentioning that all your metadata will be imported. Organization data is also transferred, including Aperture Stacking, project hierarchies, iPhoto events, folders, and albums.

However, certain Aperture features aren’t compatible with Lightroom, so they won’t be transferred. These include image adjustments, smart albums, color labels, stacks, PSD files, and your creations.

That being said, migrating from Aperture to Lightroom isn’t as hard as you might think, and it takes you just a couple of clicks to get started.

2. Export the photos by dragging them to Adobe Lightroom

Most likely, you succeeded in migrating your photos to Adobe Lightroom by using the elegant procedure described above.

However, in case you can’t do that for some reason, there is also the option of exporting the photos by simply dragging them and then integrating them in Adobe Lightroom.

To do that, you just drag the photos from the Browser to the desktop or a designated location in the Finder.

Of course, you can proceed in the same way with other elements like folders, albums, or projects from the Library Inspector.

However, you need to know that your Facebook and Flickr albums cannot be exported by dragging them.

When you’re actually dragging a photo you will export its JPEG preview stance. And if the actual photo doesn’t have a JPEG preview, you won’t be able to drag it.

For instance, if you drag more photos at the same time, only the ones with JPEG previews will be dragged out.

If you run into errors while migrating from Aperture, take a look at this Lightroom not working guide for additional troubleshooting tips.

3. Export the photos using the Export command

  1. Select a photo in the Browser.
  2. Select File, then Export, and click on Versions.
  3. Browse to the location where you want to save the photo.
  4. Choose an export preset, a name format if needed, and click on the Export Versions button to export the photo.

Note: If you will perform this for a large number of files, the process will take longer. However, you can check the Show alert when finished box to get a notification when the process is over.

If you encounter too many limitations while migrating or prefer exploring other tools, check out our Lightroom alternatives guide for more flexible options.

We hope that our guide helped you in transitioning your photos to Adobe Lightroom. You may also let us know how the procedure went for you by using the comments area below.

VGA Sound Not Working? 5 Ways to Quickly Fix it

There are numerous modes of connecting your computer to external devices like monitors for video output. The VGA, also known as the Video Graphics Array, is a standard connector that transmits visual display data from the CPU to the monitor or projector.

It has a cable port on the computer and the client device (monitor or projector). However, issues like the VGA audio not working can occur while using the VGA.

The VGA audio not working problem indicates that the visual transmission is working, but the audio is not working with VGA.

However, several things may be responsible for the sound not working through the VGA cable issue. It can be hardware, computer, cable, or even a problem with the monitor or TV you are connecting to.

Nevertheless, we’ll discuss why sound is not working through the VGA cable and how to fix the problem. Users can read through our article about how to fix DisplayPort to VGA Adapter not working / no signal.

Why is audio not working with VGA?

  • Computer boot errors: You can encounter many issues due to boot errors on your computer. They prevent the computer from functioning correctly as it should. However, it can cause the monitor audio not to work and other VGA-related issues on your computer.
  • Issues with the sound drivers: When your sound drivers are outdated, they can cause many problems with the sound components on your computer. Likewise, a corrupt or broken driver impedes the computer from initiating a smooth audio connection with the VGA connector.
  • Outdated Windows: Outdated Windows indicates that the computer lacks essential updates and patches to help it work properly. Hence, it is causing issues with its components, like sound. It is a culprit for the sound not working with VGA and other sound issues like monitor sound not working HDMI.

There are many other causes of the VGA audio not working in Windows 10/11. However, the above are the common causes of the issue.

What can I do if VGA audio is not working in Windows 10/11?

1. Restart your computer

  1. Click on Start at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Click on Power.
  3. Select Restart.

Restarting your computer will fix any boot errors that occur during startup. It is the best fix for the Viewsonic monitor with no sound HDMI issue.

2. Update Windows

  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Select Settings from the options.
  3. Click on Windows Update and select Check for updates.

Windows will automatically search and download updates if there are any available. You may be interested in reading our guidelines on what to do if VGA stops Working After Windows 10/11 Update.

  2. Select System, locate sound, and expand Input.
  3. Navigate to Choose a device for speaking or recording.
  4. Select your desired output channel and click on Set Default.
  5. Click OK.

5. Switch to HDMI

Switching to HDMI (High definition media interface) will help you detect if the issue is coming from the computer or the VGA cable. If the HDMI connection works smoothly, you can stick with it to save time and stress.

Likewise, users may consider using a VGA to audio jacks like HDMI. It is another way of fixing the issue.

Is VGA better than HDMI?

The obvious answer is no. HDMI cables transmit audio and video, while VGA connectors can only handle the visuals. Also, HDMI cables perform the transmission task smoothly and faster than the VGA cable.

In short, the VGA cable is disadvantaged because it only carries the video signal, while the HDMI cable handles the audio and video signals simultaneously.

Nonetheless, users can check our article about how to fix a laptop’s VGA signal when it’s not working.

Fix: You Don’t Have Permission to Save in This Location

Computer errors are relatively common; several users reported they got the You don’t have permission to save in this location error on their PC.

The complete error in Windows 10 message reads: You don’t have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission.

This error will prevent you from saving specific files in the desired folders. The error message directs you to contact the system administrator for permission without pointing out the ways to fix the issue.

A few instances of the error are listed below:

  • PowerPoint You don’t have permission to save in this location: Encountered when saving PowerPoint files, and changing the permission should fix the error
  • Hosts File You don’t have permission to save in this location: Arises due to problems with the UAC (User Account Control) settings. Modifying it should do the trick
  • Photoshop You don’t have permission to save in this location: Users can’t save Photoshop files to the desired folder
  • Excel You don’t have permission to save in this location: The error shows up when saving Excel files on the computer
  • Matlab You don’t have permission to save in this location: Matlab throws the error when saving files in a location you don’t have access to or if the program itself lacks the privilege
  • System32 You don’t have permission to save in this location: You come across this error when saving files in the System32 folder

So, today we’ll show you how to fix the You don’t have permission to save in this location error in Windows.

Why do I not have permission to save in this location on Windows?

The error generally shows up due to a lack of permissions. For instance, you might try to save files in folders reserved for system files or other critical programs.

Also, certain modifications are only available to the administrators. For example, if you are not using an Administrator account in Windows, it would throw the You don’t have permission to save in this location error.

Besides, misconfigured permission, even for folders where you can store files, are a likely cause, and simply modifying them should do the trick for most.

How do I get permission to save files to my hard drive?

To have the relevant permissions to save to your hard drive, you must ensure that the concerned user has complete control over the folder to save files.

You can do it from the folder’s security settings or head to the Advanced settings to make provisions for special permissions. This could be done for any folder, given you are logged in as an administrator and can make the changes.

How do I fix You don’t have permission to save in this location?

1. Use a third-party system restoration tool

If you have problems with your Windows Registry files, you can fix them quickly with a specialized third-party program that will restore them to you.

The software will scan your computer for malfunctioning files and replace or restore them if they’re corrupted while protecting your PC from malware threats.

2. Give Full control to Administrators over the problematic folder

  1. Right-click the problematic directory and choose Properties from the menu.
  2. Go to the Security tab and click on Edit.
  3. Select Administrators from the menu and check Full control in Allow column. If it is already checked, select the Deny column and then check Full Control in the Allow column again. Once done, click on OK to save changes.
  4. Now repeat these steps for the Users group if it’s available in the Security tab.

If you’re getting the You don’t have permission to save in this location error message while trying to save files to a specific location; you might be able to fix the problem simply by giving Full control to the Administrators group on your PC.

Changing the security permissions is an advanced procedure, so you should avoid changing permissions for system folders.

Also, changing permissions can cause other issues to appear, so be cautious and try not to modify the security permissions of system directories and files.

After giving Full control to the Administrators group, the problem should be resolved entirely, and you’ll be able to save files to this directory without any issues.

Several users claim that you can fix this problem by giving Full control to your user profile. This is relatively simple, and you can do it by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Security tab, as shown in the previous steps, and click on the Edit button.
  2. Now click on Add button.
  3. Enter the object names to select the text field, enter your username and click on the Check Names button.
  4. If everything is in order, click on OK to save changes.
  5. Now select the Full control option and save changes.

Few users reported they fixed the problem simply by giving Full control to the Everyone group. Unfortunately, this isn’t the safest choice, especially if you share your PC and its files with other users or if you’re a part of a network.

However, you might want to try this solution if you’re the only user and not a network member.

3. Disable the User Account Control

  1. Press Windows + S to open the Search menu, enter user account, and select Change User Account Control settings.
  2. Move the slider down to Never notify and click on OK to save changes.
  3. Click Yes in the UAC prompt that appears.

Windows comes with a helpful feature called User Account Control. This security feature will notify you whenever you or any application tries to perform an action requiring administrative privileges.

Even though this is a valuable security feature, it can sometimes interfere with your system and cause the You don’t have permission to save in this location error to appear.

Disabling User Account Control might be a slight security risk, but it won’t make your PC more vulnerable in most cases. Once you disable this feature, the error should be resolved entirely.

4. Use a different web browser

Users reported this error while using their browsers to save images from the web. According to users, the error appeared while trying to save files using Microsoft Edge.

A temporary glitch with your browser can cause this, and if you’re having this error, we advise you to try using a different browser.

You can use any other browser for this purpose. Still, we recommend trying out a browser built on the Chromium engine, with a strong focus on user security and privacy, so be sure to try it out Opera One.

⇒ Get Opera One

5. Run the program as an administrator

  1. Locate the problematic application that doesn’t allow you to save files to the desired folder.
  2. Right-click on it and choose Run as administrator from the menu.run as administrator to fix you don't have permission to save in this location

According to users, You do not have permission to save files to this location error can appear if you’re using it without administrative privileges.

To fix the issue, simply run the application giving you this problem as an administrator; after that, you should be able to save files without any issues.

Remember that this is a temporary solution, so you’ll have to repeat it every time this problem appears. This can be tedious, but you can set the application to always run with administrative privileges.

To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the problematic application and choose Properties from the menu.
  2. Go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program as an administrator option, and click OK to save changes.

After that, the application will always run with administrative privileges, and your problem should be permanently fixed.

6. Check your antivirus software

In some cases, your antivirus software can cause this problem to appear. For example, many antivirus tools lock specific folders to prevent malicious files from accessing them.

However, your antivirus tool can sometimes prevent you from accessing these directories.

To fix the You don’t have permission to save in this location contact the administrator error in Windows 10 we advise you to check your antivirus settings and turn off features that prevent file access.

Users reported problems with BitDefender, and according to them, BitDefender was blocking the application from making changes to a folder.

To fix the problem, you just have to open BitDefender settings and add the problematic application to the list of trusted applications. After that, you should be able to access any folder without issues.

If you can’t find this feature, you can try temporarily disabling your antivirus and check if that solves the problem. If disabling the antivirus doesn’t help, you can uninstall your antivirus and switch to a different solution.

7. Disable the Protected Mode feature

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run command, enter inetcpl.cpl, and click OK.
  2. Go to the Security tab, uncheck Enable Protected Mode option, and click OK to save changes.
  3. After doing that, restart your browser.

If you’re getting this error message while using your web browser, you might be able to fix the problem simply by disabling Protected Mode. However, check if the problem persists once you have made all the necessary changes.

8. Create a new directory and move all your files to it

  1. Locate the problematic folder, for example, Folder 1, and go to its parent directory.
  2. Now create a new folder in the parent directory and name it Folder 2.new folder
  3. Navigate to Folder 1, press Ctrl + A to select all files, and then hit Ctrl + C to copy them.
  4. Paste the files to Folder 2.
  5. Now try to save a new file to Folder 2. You can use any application, such as Word, to save the file.
  6. If you can save files to Folder 2, you need to delete Folder 1 from your PC.
  7. Now rename Folder 2 to Folder 1, and that’s it.

If you can’t save your files because you don’t have permission to keep them in this location error, you might be able to fix the problem using this workaround. However, remember that this solution requires you to remove specific directories, so don’t use it on system files.

9. Save the file to a different location and move it

  1. Save or download the file to any directory on your PC.
  2. Now locate the file and move it to C: drive or any other directory on your PC.

According to users, you might be able to circumvent this problem simply by saving your file to a different directory and then moving it.

Users claim they cannot save files to the C: drive directly, but you can circumvent this problem if you follow this solution. This is a quick and simple workaround, so feel free to try it out.

10. Stop sharing the folder

  1. Locate the problematic directory.
  2. Right-click the directory, hover the cursor over Share with, and select Stop sharing.

You might want to stop sharing the folder if you can’t save files to a specific directory. This issue sometimes affects shared folders; you need to stop sharing if you want to resolve the problem.

After you stop sharing the directory, the problem should be fixed, and you’ll be able to save files without any issues.

11. Change the owner of the directory

  1. Locate the problematic directory, right-click, and choose Properties from the menu.properties
  2. Navigate to the Security tab and click on Advanced.advanced
  3. Now you’ll see the owner of the directory. Next, click on the Change button.change
  4. Enter Administrators in the text field, and click on Check Names. You can also use your Microsoft account’s user name or email address.check names
  5. If everything is in order, click on OK.ok
  6. Check the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and Replace all child object permission entries options, and then click on OK to save the changes.tick checkboxes

If you’re having issues with this error message, you might be able to fix it by changing the owner of the directory, which is relatively simple.

You can also change the owner by using the Command Prompt. This method is faster but requires you to be familiar with Command Prompt syntax. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. First, press Windows + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Click Yes in the UAC prompt.yes to fix you don't have permission to save in this location
  3. Once the Command Prompt starts, paste the following command and hit Enter while replacing path_to_problematic_directory with the one in your case:icacls "C:path_to_problematic_directory" /setowner "Administrators" /T /C

After executing the command, you’ll become the directory owner and gain unlimited access. Remember that you shouldn’t change ownership of system directories because that can lead to other issues.

12. Share the problematic directory

  1. Locate the problematic folder, right-click it and choose Properties.Properties
  2. Go to Sharing tab and click on the Share button.share to fix you don't have permission to save in this location
  3. Enter Administrators and click on Add.administrators
  4. The Administrators group will now be added to the list. Set Permission Level for it to Read/Write.read/write
  5. After that, click Share.share

According to users, you might be able to solve this issue simply by sharing the directory with the Administrators group.

After sharing the directory, you should be able to access it without any problems. However, remember that this is a workaround; you’ll have to repeat it for all problematic directories.

Several users reported that you could fix this problem by sharing the folder with Everyone, so you might want to try that.

You can also try sharing the problematic directory with your user profile and check if that solves the issue. If your PC is part of a Homegroup, you might be able to fix the problem by changing the permission level for HomeGroup to Read/Write.

13. Use the Compatibility troubleshooter

  1. Locate the problematic application, right-click it and choose to Troubleshoot compatibility.
  2. Choose Troubleshoot program option.
  3. Check The program requires additional permissions option and click on Next.
  4. Now follow the instructions on the screen to finish the troubleshooting.

Sometimes specific applications aren’t fully compatible with Windows, and that can cause You don’t have permission to save in this location error to appear.

However, you might be able to fix the problem simply by using a Compatibility troubleshooter. After you finish the troubleshooting, you should be able to save files without any issues.

14. Use the Easy Context Menu

  1. Download Easy Context Menu. This is a portable application, so you don’t have to install it on your PC to run it.
  2. Now run EcMenu_x64.exe if you’re running the 64-bit version of Windows.
  3. If you’re using the 32-bit version, run EcMenu.exe.
  4. When the Easy Context Menu starts, scroll down and check Take Ownership in the Folder Context Menu section. You can also check the Take Ownership in the File Context Menu section if you want.
  5. Now click on Apply Changes icon to save changes.

After that, you’ll have the Take Ownership option in your context menu. So now you just have to right-click the problematic directory and choose to Take Ownership from the menu to fix the problem for a specific folder.

Easy Context Menu is a simple application that allows you to customize your context menu by adding or removing features from it.

The application supports many features, one of which allows you to take ownership of any folder or file. This feature is somewhat helpful if you’re having this problem.

Remember that you shouldn’t take ownership over system directories because that can sometimes lead to more problems.

15. Add your account to the Administrator groups

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run command, enter netplwiz, and click OK.netplwiz
  2. Now select your user profile and click on Properties.properties
  3. Go to the Group Membership tab, select the Administrator option, and click OK to save changes.administrator to fix you don't have permission to save in this location
  4. After making those changes, restart your PC and check if the problem is resolved.

Usually, this problem appears if you don’t have administrative privileges on your PC. For example, this can happen if your user account isn’t a member of the Administrator group.

16. Format the drive as NTFS

  1. Make sure that your removable storage is connected. We strongly advise you to back up your files before formatting the drive, so be sure to do that.
  2. Open This PC, locate the problematic drive, right-click it, and choose Format from the menu.
  3. When the Format window appears, choose NTFS as the desired File system and enter the desired label. Now check the Quick Format option and click on Start.
  4. Wait for your drive to format.

If you see the You don’t have permission to save in this location error while trying to save files to removable storage, you might want to try formatting your drive.

Remember that formatting your drive will remove all files, so be sure to back them up beforehand.

As you might know, there are two file systems, NTFS and FAT32. Unfortunately, FAT32 is an older file system that suffers from certain limitations.

On the other hand, NTFS is newer and doesn’t have the same limitations as FAT32. So in most cases, it’s better to use the NTFS file system, and if you’re having this problem, you might want to try reformatting your drive.

Once your drive is reformatted as NTFS, the error should be resolved entirely. However, remember that you should use this solution only with removable storage.

If you want, you can also use this solution with internal drives. But be sure to back up your files to prevent file loss.

17. Disable OneDrive and unsync your files

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run command, enter gpedit.msc, and click OK.
  2. When Local Group Policy Editor opens, navigate the following path using the pane on the left:Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive
  3. In the right pane, double click Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage option.
  4. Select the Enabled option and click on OK to save changes.

OneDrive is a helpful app allowing you to access cloud storage from your Windows PC.

This is a built-in feature of Windows 10, but according to some users, it can cause the You don’t have permission to save in this location error to appear. To fix this problem, you need to disable OneDrive altogether.

Remember that this method works only for Windows Pro or Enterprise. If you have Windows Home Edition, you’ll have to disable OneDrive using Registry Editor. To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run command, type regedit, and click OK.

  2. Click Yes in the UAC prompt that appears.
  3. Modifying the registry is potentially dangerous, so before you make any changes, we advise you to back up your registry. To do that, simply click on File, and select Export.
  4. Select All as Export range, enter the desired file name, choose the safe location for your file, and click on the Save button.
  5. If any problems occur after you modify your registry, you can simply use the exported files to restore your registry to the original state.
  6. Now, paste the following path in the address bar and hit Enter:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}paste path
  7. Next, double-click the System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree DWORD in the right pane.
  8. Set Value data to 0 and click OK to save changes.
  9. If you’re using the 64-bit version of Windows, go to this key:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}
  10. Now, locate System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree and set its Value data to 0.
  11. Close Registry Editor and check if OneDrive is disabled. If not, restart your PC.

18. Simply log out and log back into your account

  1. Open the Start Menu and click your user profile icon.
  2. Choose Sign out from the menu.
  3. Now select your user account and log back in.

According to users, the You don’t have permission to save in this location can occur if you have two or more user accounts on your PC. You just have to sign out of your account and log back in to fix the problem.

This is an unusual workaround, but it works according to users, so try it out. Remember that this isn’t a permanent solution, so you might have to repeat it whenever the problem appears.

19. Enable inheritance

  1. Locate the problematic directory, go to its parent directory, right-click it, and then choose Properties.
  2. Go to the Security tab and click on the Advanced button.
  3. Now click on Enable inheritance button.
  4. Set the desired permissions for users and groups. In most cases, you should give Full control to your user account and the Administrators group. After you’re done, click on OK to save changes.

Your security settings are usually inherited, but sometimes subfolders might not have the same security settings as their parent folder. Therefore, you must enable inheritance for the problematic folder to fix the issue.

After that, all security permissions from the parent folder will be inherited by the subfolders, and the problem should be fixed entirely.

20. Verify your identity

  1. Press Windows + I to open the Settings app and select the Accounts section.
  2. If you see a Verify option on the right, click on it.
  3. Now you’ll be asked to enter your email address. After you submit it, a security code will be received at your email address.
  4. Enter the received code, and your account will now be verified.

According to users, you might be able to fix this problem simply by verifying your identity. For example, this problem can occur if you use your Microsoft account to log in to Windows 10.

After verifying your account, this error message should disappear, and you’ll be able to save files without any problems.

21. Run Notepad as an administrator and try to access host files again

The error You don’t have permission to save in this location mostly appears when trying to modify the host’s file. This is a system file, and Windows protect it by default.

However, if you want to modify the host file, you just need to run Notepad as an administrator and use it to open and edit the host’s file.

22. Use Safe Mode

Safe Mode is a segment of Windows that runs with default settings, so it’s perfect for troubleshooting. Several users suggested that you could avoid this problem simply by booting Windows in the Safe Mode.

Keep in mind that entering Safe Mode won’t permanently fix your problem. This is a simple workaround, and it can be helpful if you need to save a couple of files quickly. If you’re looking for a long-term solution, you might need to try something else.

23. Create a new user profile

According to users, this error message might be caused by a corrupted user profile. This usually occurs after a significant upgrade, and if you’re having this problem, try creating a new local account on the PC.

If switching to a new account fixes the problem, you might want to keep using the new account instead of your old one. In addition, you’ll need to move all your files to the new account as well.

24. Check if your permissions apply to both folders and subfolders

  1. Find the problematic folder or its parent folder, right-click it and choose Properties.properties
  2. Go to the Security tab and click on Advanced.advanced
  3. When the Advanced Security Settings window opens, locate your user profile and check Applies to column. If Applies to isn’t set to This folder, subfolders and files, you need to double click your user name on the list to change its settings.
  4. Set Type to Allow, choose This folder, subfolders and files in the Applies to dropdown, tick the checkbox for Full control, and click OK to save changes.

As we mentioned in our previous solutions, your security permissions are inheritable, but sometimes subfolders might not have the same permissions as their parent folder.

Once you save changes, your permissions will apply to all folders and subfolders, and you should be able to save files without any limitations.

25. Disable OneDrive from automatically starting with Windows

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and navigate to the Startup tab.startup
  2. Right-click Microsoft OneDrive and choose Disable.disable to fix you don't have permission to save in this location

According to users, it seems that OneDrive can cause this problem, and to fix it, you need to prevent OneDrive from starting automatically with your System.

How do I get administrator permission?

Running a program as an administrator is simple, right-click the launcher, and select Run as administrator from the context menu.

Besides, you can configure an app to run automatically with administrative privileges when launched. This would help with critical apps that require several permissions and the ones that you don’t want to throw errors.

What is a file permission error?

Encountered on Microsoft Word, the File permission error prevents users from saving files. The error appears when you try to keep files without the relevant permissions, access the folder, or save the file in the first place.

Also, if the file is stored on the network shared folder, you will receive the error. Other than that, many reported that the installed antivirus caused the problem, and disabling it fixed things.

Though, we do not recommend keeping the antivirus disabled for long. If it’s indeed the antivirus behind the error, we recommend switching to a more reliable and effective antivirus solution.

The You don’t have permission to save in this location error can be a severe problem, and it can appear on almost any PC. Security permissions usually cause this error, but you should be able to solve it by using one of our solutions.

Also, find out how to boost the System’s performance in a few easy steps and never worry about running low on resources.

To get started head over to the Discord mobile app and link your Xbox account.  You’ll need to do this again even if you’ve done it before.  After that, you can join any Discord voice chat or call and transfer it to your Xbox.

Confirmed: Goldeneye 007 on Xbox will be a 4K remaster, but without online multiplayer

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding the big Goldeneye announcement in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct event, with Microsoft making a similar announcement the same day. What we know is that the classic first-person shooter Goldeneye 007 will be coming to both Nintendo Switch and Xbox—in the latter case via Xbox Game Pass.

We also know that the Xbox version will be a remaster of the game, with support for 4K resolution. What it will not have, however, is online multiplayer. That feature will apparently be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch online service. It will mark the first time the game has gone online. Xbox players will still be able to enjoy local multiplayer for up to four players—which was one of the things that made the original Goldeneye such a blast in the first place.

To recap and hopefully clear up any confusion:

  • The Xbox release of Goldeneye 007 will be a completely different, remastered version of the game, and will be available on Game Pass. It will include local multiplayer as in the original game.
  • The Switch version will be a re-release of the original game with (exclusive) online multiplayer.

It didn’t help that both Nintendo and Microsoft chose to unveil their versions of the game on the same day. Maybe they were trying to steal each other’s thunder? Anyhow, it seems the game will be “coming soon,” although no specific release date has been given.

Module Not Found: Can’t Resolve React-Router-Dom [Fixed]

If you are a React programmer who builds web applications, you will need a dedicated router to help your users navigate through them.

But it can sometimes crash and display the message module not found: can’t resolve react-router-dom and you might have no idea as to how to fix it.

Today we’ll help you fix one of the most common errors of the React router. Keep reading to find out!

What is a React Router Dom?

The React Router is a full-fledged client-side to server-side routing library for React. The React Router Dom uses dynamic routing in a web app that helps users navigate efficiently.

Developers who build React web apps use the React Router Dom to build single-page applications on the web. That is, a web application with many pages or components is never refreshed; rather, content is fetched dynamically.

React Router DOM v6 — Part — I. React enables us to develop single-page… | by Arjun Vaidy | Nerd For Tech | Medium
Source: Medium

The react-router offers a better user experience as it is extremely quick when compared to traditional page navigation and also offers better app performance overall.

Now that you know what routing is and why programmers use React Router Dom, there’s still one thing you should know. There are three types of React Router, and each serves its purpose.

Difference between React Router VS React Dom VS React Native

If you are a React developer, you have three libraries to choose from. All three are almost identical, but they have their use cases. We’ll go over each one of them so you can understand their differences.

  • React-router – Includes all the custom components and features from the react-router-native and react-router-dom libraries.
  • React-router-dom – Mainly used for web applications that are built with React.
  • React-router-native – Built for the React Native framework that is used to create mobile applications using React.

Without further ado, let’s see what you can do if you are getting the module not found error message. Follow along!

What can I do if seeing the error module not found message?

1. Install the dependencies properly

  1. Check if you correctly typed react-router-dom or if you typed react-dom or react dom because the latter two are incorrect.
  2. If the dependencies are not properly installed, use the command react-router-dom to install the dependencies.react router dom error
  3. If the error module is not found: can’t resolve react-router-dom persists even after installing the correct dependency, then try the following commands: npm install react-router-dom --save or npm install -S react-router-domnpm-install module-not-found-cant-resolve-react-router-dom

By using the commands that are mentioned above in the console, you add a dev dependency on your package.json file. This allows you to resolve the error and simultaneously install the dependency on other computers that show module not found: can’t resolve react-router-dom

2. Update the NPM to version 5

  1. To update the NPM to version 5, use the command npm update -gnpm-update module-not-found-cant-resolve-react-router-dom
  2. Confirm now if you are still facing the error module not found: can’t resolve react-router-dom.

Before version 5, NPM by default installed a package under node_modules.

If you are trying to install dependencies for your module/app, you will have to install it and then add it to the dependencies section manually to your package.json. By updating to version 5, you can also resolve issues such as Can’t resolve Axios and the NPM err could not find executable to run.

3. Check if you have the correct dependencies installed

  1. Press and hold the Ctrl button and left-click on the react-router-dom word. react-router module-not-found-cant-resolve-react-router-dom
  2. After clicking, you should be redirected to the origin node_modules file of the dependency. If you don’t get redirected, install it again.
  3. You can install it using the command npm install react-router-dom --save or npm install -S react-router-domnpm-install module-not-found-cant-resolve-react-router-dom

The Can’t resolve in the React Router is usually because of improper installation. And this is usually common when you don’t have the correct dependencies installed on the application that you are trying to use.

The React Router helps create web apps by keeping the UI and the URL of your application in sync. These applications are much easier to deploy, run efficiently, and significantly improve the user experience.

But like most things, the React Router can sometimes crash or show an error code, and you can fix it with proper help. As for those of you worried about a similar issue, this guide dedicated to the NPM error on Windows: How to fix it is what you are looking for.

We hope we helped you resolve the error and would love to hear back from you regarding the same in the comments below!

Fix Samsung Laptop if It is Not Booting After Software Update

Though Windows is an advanced operating system, it too comes across errors. And, the worst of these are the ones that prevent your device from booting. One such error is encountered on Samsung laptops when it stops booting after a software update.

The fact that the laptop doesn’t boot after an update indicates an issue with the latest installed version itself. It could be either an update for Windows, a driver, or an application.

But, fret not! The problem is easily fixable and we have listed the most effective solutions if your Samsung laptop is not booting after a software update.

Why is my Samsung laptop not starting up?

The most common reason behind the problem is incompatibility. If the installed version is not compatible with the device, it may fail to boot and the Samsung laptop will not be starting Windows.

Apart from that, it could be a bug in the latest version itself. Oftentimes, a new version introduces some kind of instability to the system and your Samsung laptop won’t boot past the logo.

In some cases, it could have to do with issues with the laptop itself. For instance, problems with the battery, charging cable/port, or motherboard. Also, display issues could lead to this error.

Now that you have a basic understanding of why your Samsung laptop is not booting after an update, let’s walk you through the solutions for it.

What do I do if my Samsung laptop is not booting after a software update?

1. Perform some basic checks

The first thing you have to check is whether the hardware components work fine. If the battery in your laptop is already dead, make sure that the charging port and cable work fine, since these will be the only source of power.

Also, you may use a different battery to verify if the problem lies with one currently connected to the PC.

Another thing you can do is connect a spare monitor to your laptop. This will help identify if the problem lies with the laptop’s display or whether it’s a software issue leading to the problem.

If none of the methods listed here have worked, head to the next one.

2. Uninstall the recent update

  1. Press the power button on your laptop and wait for the display to light up. As soon as you see the manufacturer’s logo, hold the power button to force shut down the computer. Repeat the process 3-4 times until the Automatic Repair process starts.
  2. Click on the Advanced options button on the Automatic Repair screen.Advanced options to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  3. Next, click on Troubleshoot.Troubleshoot
  4. Again, select Advanced options.Advanced options
  5. Click on Uninstall Updates from the six options that appear here.Uninstall updates to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  6. Select the type of update you want to uninstall, Quality, or Feature.Type of update
  7. Now, click on the Uninstall feature update (we selected feature update earlier) button.Uninstall to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  8. Wait for the update to be uninstalled, and once that’s done, restart the computer.

In most cases, it’s the problematic latest version behind your Samsung laptop not booting after a software update. You can easily uninstall the latest update from the Recovery Mode, even when Windows doesn’t boot.

In case the Samsung laptop recovery is not working, try the other ways to access the Recovery Mode. Also, if this method works, do not right away update whatever you did the last time, and wait for the next version of it to be released.

3. Run the SFC scan

  1. Turn on your Samsung laptop and as soon as the display lights up, hold the power button to turn it off. Repeat the same process 3-4 times until Automatic Repair kicks in.
  2. Click on Advanced options.Advanced options
  3. Next, click Troubleshoot to proceed to the recovery options.Troubleshoot to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  4. Click Advanced options.Advanced options
  5. Select Command Prompt from the various options here.Command Prompt
  6. Paste the following command and hit Enter to run the SFC scan:sfc /scannowSFC scan to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update

After the scan is complete, restart the computer. The Samsung laptop not booting after the software update error in Windows 10 will be fixed.

The SFC (System File Checker) scan is highly effective at locating and replacing the corrupt system files on the computer. In some cases, these files may corrupt during an update process, which is when running the SFC scan might do the trick.

If this doesn’t work, try the next method.

4. Perform a system restore

  1. Press and hold the power button to turn on the Samsung laptop. Now, as soon as the display lights up, again hold the power button to force shut down the laptop. Repeat the process 3-4 times, until you see the Automatic Repair screen.
  2. Now, click on Advanced options here.Advanced options
  3. Click Troubleshoot.Troubleshoot
  4. Next, again click on Advanced options.Advanced options
  5. Select System Restore from the six options listed here.System restore to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  6. Click on Next in the System Restore window to proceed.Next
  7. Choose a restore point from the list and click Next.Select point
  8. Now, verify the restore details, and click on Finish to start the process.Finish to fix samsung laptop is not booting after software update
  9. Click Yes in the confirmation prompt that pops up.Yes

System Restore is an advanced troubleshooting method that helps effectively eliminate the underlying cause when your Samsung laptop is not booting after a software update. Make sure to choose a point created before you first encountered the issue while booting Windows.

Also, find out how to create a restore point in Windows 11 since these come in extremely handy when you encounter such errors. Though with the right settings in place, Windows will automatically create a restore point before undergoing any major changes.

If you want to choose a much easier way to restore your system, you can always use specialized software that performs these steps automatically.

5. Reinstall the Windows

If none of the methods listed here have worked, you are left with no option but to reinstall Windows. Here, it’s recommended that you do a clean install.

There are various ways you can reinstall Windows 11 or Windows 10, depending on the iteration installed. Most users prefer the bootable USB drive method but you can also try the other ones to reinstall the OS.

6. Use a dedicated third-party tool

A relatively simpler and quicker way to fix boot issues is to use a dedicated third-party tool. We recommend using Windows Boot Genius by TenorShare, a highly effective software tool that not just fixes boot problems but also a plethora of BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) errors.

Also, Windows Boot Genius can help recover data from an unbootable hard disk, apart from fixing a corrupt Registry, and recovering the Windows password or product key.

⇒ Get Boot Genius

That’s it! By the time you reach this part of the article, the issue behind your Samsung laptop not booting after a software update should be eliminated.

Dell 2K Webcam Review: Straightforward clarity

Starting at $134.99

While PC manufacturers are slowly coming around to updating their integrated webcam experiences, external solutions continue outpace development and performance of the out-of-the-box conferencing hardware, and Dell’s Pro Webcam (WB5023) is the perfect example.

Dell currently offers a 4K Ultrasharp webcam for $199, but now the company is introducing its 2K QHD variant that can capture 30fps at that resolution or 60fps at 1080p for $134.99 (both webcams are currently on sale from Dell).

Dell 2K webcam package

With most conferencing software capping their resolutions at 720p of 1080, the (WB5023) is closer in line with current support but offers a bit more clarity for anyone who might also want reasonably priced streaming cam as well.

In addition to the 2K QHD resolution the (WB5023) also offers a 78-degree field of view (FOV), up to 4 times digital zoom, HDR, AI auto-framing, and a moderately effective microphone.

Specifications
Resolution FPS 2K QHD/30fps; Full HD/30fps; HD/60fps
Diagonal Field of View 78 degrees
Zoom 4x digital
Autofocus Yes
HDR Yes
Microphone Built-in noise reduction mic
Connection USB-A (non-detachable)
Mount Built-in monitor clip with tripod mounting point
Dimensions (L x W) 3.6 x 1.73 inches (92 x 44 mm)
Weight 0.34lbs / 155g
Software Dell Peripheral Manager
Special Features AI Auto Framing

Look and Feel

The (WB5023) is a hefty cylinder-shaped webcam that has very few lines, a single connecting wire, and a large unobstructed lens with attachable magnetic cover. My review unit came in a dark grey, almost matte black color with a retractable rubber-covered mount slip that also contains a 1/7 slip at its bottom to help further secure the webcam to most monitors and laptop lids.

For professionals, there is also a screw-in mount that can be applied to a retratracble desk arm or tripod.

Dell 2K Pro Webcam Front

The single connecting wire is permenately attached to the back of the webcam and stretches roughly five feet and ends in a USB-A connector to help support the lowest common dennomenator port on newer and older devices.

Aside from its unique barrel shape, there is not much more the design of the (WB5023), such as sliders, lights, switches or buttons which helps it blend into most backgrounds and desktop setups.

Performance

Under mosf office florescent lighting, the (WB5023) does a decent job at adding in black and contrast levels automatically to keep subjects from looking washed out initially. The 2K resolution is a mixed bag however, with the clarity feeling almost amped up with overly artificial sharpness which is noticable when a subject moves too quickly for the sensor to trace.

Dell 2K Webcam

The (WB5023) outpeformed my Logitec C920x and Streamcam when lighting comes from above and behind the camera’s sensor.

When in less than ideal conditions, the (WB5023) struggles but less than other webcams, especially when trying to find white balances between backgrounds and darker skinned subjects. Without a light ring (which many webcams come with) the 2K clarity picks up the darker areas in focus much more and produces a darker capture than what may actually be in the room.

Dell 2K webcam - lens

There is software the accompanies the (WB5023) that allows users to tweak brightness, sharpness, contrast, HDR, Auto White Balance and even camera controls among other presets. Users can head to Dell’s website to grab the software for free and go through the five-minute set up to gain access to more granular controls over FOV, Zoom, and capture settings. However, using the Dell Peripheral Manger to adjust clarity, contrast, or even sharpness does minimal to change the overal image quality.

Dell 2K webcam - in office

Ideally, users are relying on dedicated microphones or even modern computer mics than leaning on the use of the (WB5023) as it’s hollows out the sound in a room and puts an auditory distance between the users and their audience. In my experience hosting the OnPodcast for an episode using the mic, listeners said my audio was too low at times despite being less than two-feet away from the camera.

Summary

Marvel’s Midnight Suns has a new release date and it’s this year

After Midnight Suns had its release date delayed until “sometime before March 2023” last month, most expected the Marvel Comics video game to come out sometime in early-2023. It was a bit of surprise this past week when, at the first Disney and Marvel Showcase, the game was given the new release date of December 2nd this year for both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

Unfortunately for Xbox One console owners, the release for the last-gen version is still TBA, however.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a rather dark and mature action roleplaying game that brings together a variety of Marvel characters from Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Blade to Ghost Rider, Magik, and Scarlet Witch.

Get the September 2022 Adobe Patch Tuesday updates

Many of you have surely been anxiously waiting for the Adobe Patch Tuesday rollout, and we’re here to make it a bit easier for you to find what you’re looking for.

No, Microsoft isn’t the only company that has such a rollout on a monthly basis, so in this article, we’re going to talk about Adobe and some of the patches for their products.

And, as you know we do every month, we will also include links to the download source, so you don’t have to scour the internet to find them.

Adobe releases updates for 63 CVEs

However, before we begin, let’s also take a look at what happened in August 2022, when Adobe released 25 CVEs in four patches for Acrobat and Reader, Commerce, and FrameMaker.

The highlight of last month’s release was definitely the FrameMaker update which addressed a combination of six CVEs, five of which could lead to code execution.

It should absolutely go without saying that the most severe of these could allow code execution if an attacker convinces a target to open a specially crafted PDF document.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get back to the present and explore what the company has prepared for its users as a part of the September batch of patches.

This month, September 2022, we are looking at security fixes for software such as Bridge, InDesign, Photoshop, InCopy, Animate, and Illustrator.

InDesign

We are going to start with the update for InDesign this time, which is also the largest patch this month for Adobe products.

Adobe had to fix eight Critical-rated and 10 Important-rated vulnerabilities, the most severe of these could lead to code execution if a specially crafted file is opened on an affected system

Affected versions

ProductAffected versionPlatform
Adobe InDesign17.3 and earlier versionsWindows and macOS
Adobe InDesign16.4.2 and earlier versionsWindows and macOS

Photoshop

There are so many people using Adobe Photoshop that this message should be treated with the upmost importance.

This month’s Photoshop patch fixes 10 CVEs, 9 of which are rated Critical. As well as in the case of InDesign, an attacker can get code execution if they can convince a user to open a malicious file.

Affected versions

ProductAffected versionPlatform
Photoshop 202122.5.8 and earlier versions     Windows and macOS
Photoshop 202223.4.2 and earlier versionsWindows and macOS

InCopy

We’re now going to look at some Adobe software that isn’t as popular or widely used as Photoshop or Reader but needed fixing nonetheless.

For September 2022, Adobe issued a fix patch for InCopy, meant to address fixes five similar code execution bugs and two info disclosure bugs.

Affected versions

ProductAffected versionPlatform
Adobe InCopy  17.3 and earlier versionWindows and macOS
Adobe InCopy  16.4.2 and earlier versionWindows and macOS

Animate

Yes, this month we are also getting an Adobe Animate patch, even though this software hasn’t been susceptible to attacks in quite some time now.

That being said, know that, for September, Adobe Animate also receives patches for two Critical-rated code execution bugs.

Affected versions

ProductVersionPlatform
Adobe Animate 202121.0.11 and earlier versions

Windows and macOS
Adobe Animate 202222.0.7 and earlier versionsWindows and macOS

Bridge

Next, we’re going to take a closer look at the update for Adobe Bridge, one that corrects 10 Critical-rated code execution bugs and two Important-rated info disclosure bugs.

Some pretty nasty bugs got fixed in this month’s Patch Tuesday release, so it makes you wonder what else Adobe is hiding behind closed doors.

Affected versions

ProductVersionPlatform
Adobe Bridge  12.0.2 and earlier versions Windows  and macOS
Adobe Bridge  11.1.3 and earlier versions Windows  and macOS

Illustrator

We can’t end this article without also taking a peek at the updates that Adobe has prepared for the Illustrator application.

Thus, one of the three Illustrator vulnerabilities getting fixed could also lead to code execution, which really comes as no surprise anymore.

Just as in the cases described above, a user would need to open a malicious file with an affected software version in order for the attack to begin.

Affected versions

ProductVersionPlatform
Illustrator 202226.4 and earlier versions Windows and macOS
Illustrator 202125.4.7 and earlier versions Windows and macOS

Also, Adobe managed to patch Experience Manager as well, and addressed 11 Important-rated bugs, primarily of the cross-site scripting (XSS) variety.

Remember that none of the bugs fixed by Adobe this month are listed as publicly known or under active attack at the time of release.

This is what you are looking at in terms of Patch Tuesday releases for Adobe for the month of September 2022, so hurry up and get the software.

What’s your take on this month’s release? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

Microsoft fixes 64 CVEs through the September 2022 Patch Tuesday rollout

We’ve already reached September and the temperatures are slowly but surely starting to drop, so we can turn off the fans and air conditioning units and simply relax.

It’s the second Tuesday of the month, which means that Windows users are looking towards Microsoft in hopes that some of the flaws they’ve been struggling with will finally get fixed.

We’ve already provided the direct download links for the cumulative updates released today for Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and 11, but now it’s time to talk about Critical Vulnerabilities and Exposures again.

For September, Microsoft released 64 new patches, which is a lot more than some people were expecting right as the summer ended.

These software updates address CVEs in:

  • Microsoft Windows and Windows Components
  • Azure and Azure Arc
  • .NET and Visual Studio and .NET Framework
  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)
  • Office and Office Components
  • Windows Defender
  • Linux Kernel

September comes with 64 new security updates

We consider that it’s safe to say that this wasn’t either the busiest or the lightest month for Redmond-based security experts.

You might like to know that, out of the 64 new CVEs released, five are rated Critical, 57 are rated Important, one is rated Moderate, and one is rated Low in severity.

Out of all these vulnerabilities, one CVE is listed as publicly known and under active attack at the time of this Patch Tuesday release.

The one under active attack, meaning the bug in the Common Log File System (CLFS), allows an authenticated attacker to execute code with elevated privileges.

Keep in mind that this type of bug is often wrapped into some form of social engineering attack, such as convincing someone to open a file or click a link.

And, once they take the bait, additional code executes with elevated privileges to take over a system, and it’s basically checkmate.

Microsoft mentioned that out of the Critical-rated updates, there are two for Windows Internet Key Exchange (IKE) Protocol Extensions that could also be classified as wormable.

In both cases, only users that are working on systems running IPSec are affected, so make sure you remember that.

Furthermore, we are also looking at two Critical-rated vulnerabilities in Dynamics 365 that could allow an authenticated user to perform SQL injection attacks and execute commands as db_owner within their Dynamics 356 database.

Let’s move on and look at the seven different DoS vulnerabilities patched this month, including the DNS bug previously mentioned above.

The tech giant said that two bugs in the secure channel would allow an attacker to crash a TLS by sending specially crafted packets.

Let’s not forget about the DoS in IKE, but unlike the code execution bugs listed above, no IPSec requirements are listed here.

The September 2022 rollout includes a fix for a lone security feature bypass in Network Device Enrollment (NDES) Service, where an attacker could bypass the service’s cryptographic service provider.

Looking forward, the next Patch Tuesday security update rollout will be on the 11th of October, which is a bit sooner than some expected it.

The Windows 7 and 8.1 September 2022 Patch Tuesday updates are live

You know we aren’t only talking about Windows 11 and Windows 10, and we never miss an option to revisit the older versions of the Windows OS.

And, as you surely know by now, the Redmond-based tech colossus also releases security updates for some of the obsolete operating systems, during Patch Tuesday.

That means that not only Windows 10 and 11 users will receive updates during this time. We’re also looking at Windows 7, Windows 8, and various Server versions as well.

We’ve already presented the 64 new updates that became available, along with the official download links, so all that remains is going a bit more in-depth.

Also, we’ve provided download links to the security updates that Adobe released for its suite of products during the same event.

However, now, let’s take a closer look at what Windows 7 and Windows 8 users were given to work with on the September 2022 Patch Tuesday.

What is going to change with the September Patch Tuesday?

The Redmond-based tech colossus has just released Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 8.1, in the form of KB5017367, and Windows 7, in the form of KB5017361.

It should go without saying, but they each come with a whole host of improvements and known issues with some pretty neat workarounds.

All official support for Windows 8.1 will end in January, so Microsoft keeps urging users to upgrade to a later edition of the Windows OS.

And, the Patch Tuesday update for Windows 7 requires you to have purchased the Extended Security Update (ESU) support.

Windows 7

KB5017361

  • Addresses an issue in which Speech and Network troubleshooters will not start.
  • Addresses an issue that might cause the Local Security Authority Server Service (LSASS) to leak tokens. This issue affects devices that have installed Windows updates dated June 14, 2022 or later. This issue occurs when the device performs a specific form of service for user (S4U) in a non-Trusted Computing Base (TCB) Windows service that runs as Network Service.
  • Enforces a hardening change that requires printers and scanners that use smart cards for authentication to have firmware that complies with section 3.2.1 of RFC 4556. If they do not comply, Active Directory domain controllers will not authenticate them. Mitigations that allowed non-compliant devices to authenticate will not exist after August 9, 2022. For more information about this change, see KB5005408.

Known issues

  • After installing this update and restarting your device, you might receive the error, “Failure to configure Windows updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer”, and the update might show as Failed in Update History.
  • Starting at 12:00 A.M. Saturday, September 10, 2022, the official time in Chile will advance 60 minutes in accordance with the August 9, 2022 official announcement by the Chilean government about a daylight saving time (DST) time zone change. This moves the DST change which was previously September 4 to September 10.

Windows 10 & 11 September Patch Tuesday [DOWNLOAD LINKS]

Folks, the time has come again for us to open our virtual arms and extend a warm welcome to the latest batch of security updates from Microsoft.

As you are already aware, the eighth round of the monthly Patch Tuesday updates of 2023 has already been documented.

Know that these updates actually bring an entire array of changes for both Windows 10 and Windows 11, regardless of whether it is a newer or an older version.

The September 2022 Patch Tuesday updates are expected to fix some of the issues that were still pending, and in the article below we will be looking to see exactly what we get.

We’ve included detailed changelogs for each cumulative update, and we will also be providing you with direct download links from Microsoft’s Windows Update Catalog, so you know that they are secure.

Alternatively, you can always use other methods to get the latest updates, including:

  • The Windows Update menu on your OS
  • The WSUS (Windows Server Update Service)
  • Group Policies set up by your admins if you’re part of a larger network.

So, without any further ado, let’s have a closer look at the September 2022 Patch Tuesday updates rollout from Microsoft.

What do the September Patch Tuesday updates bring?

Windows 11

As most of you know by now, Microsoft released its latest operating system, Windows 11, on the 5th of October, 2021.

Five months after the general rollout, the new OS seems to become increasingly stable and far less buggy than we’ve gotten used to.

You might also like to know that the 22H2 version of Windows 11, the operating system’s first major update, has already been declared feature complete.

It will, most likely, come in the first half of the year, so we might just get it until the summer. Of course, there is a possibility that the Redmond tech giant could postpone to the third, or fourth quarter.

Changes and improvements

  • Addresses a known issue that affects Microsoft accounts (MSA). The web dialog that you use to sign in or sign out might not appear. This issue occurs on devices that have installed KB5016691.
  • Addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

Known issues

  • After installing this update, XPS Viewer might be unable to open XML Paper Specification (XPS) documents in some non-English languages, including some Japanese and Chinese character encodings. This issue affects both XML Paper Specification (XPS) and Open XML Paper Specification (OXPS) files. When encountering this issue, you may receive an error, “This page cannot be displayed” within XPS Viewer or it might stop responding and have high CPU usage with continually increasing memory usage. When the error is encountered, if XPS Viewer is not closed it might reach up to 2.5GB of memory usage before closing unexpectedly.

Microsoft has also shared symptoms for devices, in case the workaround is not used between September 4, 2022 and September 11, 2022:

  • Time shown in Windows and apps will not be correct.
  • Apps and cloud services which use date and time for integral functions, such as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook, notifications and scheduling of meetings might be 60 minutes off.
  • Automation that uses date and time, such as Scheduled tasks, might not run at the expected time.
  • Timestamp on transactions, files, and logs will be 60 minutes off.
  • Operations that rely on time-dependent protocols such as Kerberos might cause authentication failures when attempting to logon or access resources.
  • Windows devices and apps outside of Chile might also be affected if they are connecting to servers or devices in Chile or if they are scheduling or attending meetings taking place in Chile from another location or time zone. Windows devices outside of Chile should not use the workaround, as it would change their local time on the device.

How to Open .aspx Files on Windows 10 and Mac

Active Server Page Extended (ASPX) is a file extension designed for the Microsoft ASP.NET framework.

The ASPX files are usually generated by the web browser and contain scripts and codes. Your web browser uses the codes and scripts to decide how to show the web page.

If you did not intend to download the ASPX file, it is most likely that you don’t know what program to use to open the file.

In this article, we take a look at a few tools that can help you open and view the ASPX file with ease.

How can I open a .aspx file?

1. Change the file extension

If you intended to download a PDF or image file, but the website delivered an ASPX file, try renaming the file. If you were expecting a PDF, then rename the file as file.pdf or file.png in case of an image.

This issue usually occurs when the website doesn’t properly name the generated file, and you end up with a server-side file.

If the issue persists, try to access the same website with a different browser to see if it is a browser-specific issue.

2. Open .aspx files with a third-party program

2.1 Use Adobe Dreamweaver

How to Align Print Cartridges in Windows 10

Aligning printer cartridges are necessary when you have installed new cartridges or if the printer has not been in use for quite some time.

Typical symptoms when you know there is something wrong with the cartridge alignment are when the print output is showing jagged lines or if the print isn’t perfect, particularly along the edges.

Can I align print cartridges?

Fortunately, setting things right here is easy as a few simple steps are all that you need to ensure the print quality is spot on the next time you print any pages.

However, while the basic steps are the same for almost all printers, there might be a few steps unique for each printer brand.

Here are the steps we have mentioned for some of the most used printer brands named HP, Canon, Epson, and Brother printers.

Before we begin, you will also do well to ensure you have the updated printer software for the particular model installed on your PC instead of relying solely on the one that Windows 10 comes with.

What happens if a printer does not have aligned print cartridges?

A printer that has alignment problems will not print papers accurately. Images and text can print at an angle or they may not print at all. A printer can become misaligned if there is any paper stuck in the device, improper installation of cartridges, and using low-quality cartridges.

Furthermore, a printer can become misaligned after the device completes a large print job.

The printer software generally comes included with the means to align print cartridges though mentioned below are the more general ways of doing the same and are equally effective as well in achieving the desired result.

How do I align print cartridges in Windows 10?

    1. Align print cartridges for HP printers

Aligning print cartridges for a HP printer can be done via the built-in HP Printer Assistant. You need to manually configure it to do the job.

The process will also require printing of a test page, so ensure the printer is ready and that the tray is properly fed with enough paper. Also, in extreme cases, you might have to perform the alignment process a few times until the print of optimum quality is achieved.

Moreover, the manual process will involve printing of test pages comprising of horizontal or vertical lines or a combo of both. You will then be required to enter the number of lines as is required for the system to align the print heads accordingly.

  1. 1. Launch the HP Printer Assistant software, or launch the app for the printer installed on your device.

  2. 2. Select Print & Scan and click on Maintain Your Printer under the Print section.

    HP maintain your printer
  3. 3. This will launch the Toolbox windows that applies to your printer.

  4. 4. In the Toolbox windows, select Device Services. Here you will find the list of options needed for printer maintenance.

  5. 5. Click on Align Ink Cartridges and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the process.

2. For Canon printers

  1. Launch the Run dialog box. This can be done by pressing and holding on to the Windows + R keys or just typing Run in the Cortana search box and selecting the app from the search result shown.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type Control Printers and hit OK.
  3. Select the printer installed on your device or the one you are having issues with. Right-click on it and select Printing Preferences.
  4. In the Printing Preferences windows, select the Maintenance tab > Custom Settings.
  5. Select Align heads manually if you’d like to go for a manual process or deselect it if you want it to be done automatically.
  6. Click on Ok and follow on-screen instructions in either case.

As has been stated earlier, there is going to be a test page with several patterns printed. You will then be required to count the vertical or horizontal lines or both and enter the best combination in another window that shows up.

The software is going to make adjustments to the settings using the info you have provided.

3. Align cartridges for an Epson printer

  1. Launch the Run dialog box as before.
  2. Type Control Printers and click on OK.
  3. In the Devices and Printers page that opens, right-click on the Epson printer that you wish to set right the alignment for and select Printing Preferences.
  4. In the window that opens, click on the Maintenance
  5. Click on Print Head Alignment.
  6. This launches the Print Head Alignment dialog box. Follow on-screen instructions to set things right.

4. For Brother printers

  1. Launch Run as before and type Control Printers.
  2. Click on OK to launch the Devices and Printers
  3. Right-click on the Brother printer that needs its printer cartridges realigned and select Printing Preferences.
  4. In the Printing Preferences window, select Features.
  5. Click on Printer Services. This will open the HP Toolbox.
  6. In the Toolbox windows, click on Align the Print Cartridges.
  7. Follow on-screen instructions thereafter.

If you are encountering Brother printer scanning issues, check out our dedicated article.

To prepare your printer properly, you should also check your printer ink levels so alignment tests produce accurate results.

Also, as stated above, there are going to be test pages printed and you will have to make the right input based on the test page print to align the print cartridge accordingly.

So there you have it, quite a comprehensive guide to get your cartridges aligned for some of the most well-known printers on Windows 10 PCs.

Does Using VPN Affect Internet Speed? Which VPN Increases It

Everyone knows and can agree that VPNs are among the best online privacy and security tools. Not to mention the fact that you can use them to circumvent geo-restrictions.

On paper, VPNs might sound like pure awesomeness, as they’re the multi-tool of the online privacy practitioner.

However, a burning question still pops up every now and then in users’ minds: can VPN affect Internet speed?

Does VPN affect Internet connection?

Essentially, what a VPN does is hide your online activity and keep it only for yourself. That we all know. But how about we take a look under the hood and understand how it can achieve that?

First thing first, a VPN is a network of servers that you can connect to, which will keep all your Internet traffic private.

Picture your default, public Internet connection as a transparent tube that constantly passes data.

If your ISP, a hacker, a government agency, or anybody else with the means to snoop on your activity, decided to take a peek, there would be nobody around to stop them.

The data flows through the transparent tube and it’s there for anyone with eyes to see.

Now imagine that using a VPN would run a smaller, opaque tube, straight through the transparent one. While you’re using the VPN, all your traffic goes through the smaller, shielded tunnel, instead of floating around visibly.

Naturally, this means that your data becomes private, away from prying eyes. On the downside, since it’s the same amount of data running through a smaller tube, the flow might not be as fast.

Why does VPN slow down my Internet speed?

Firstly, we could say that the main reasons for your VPN slowing down your Internet connections are the following:

➡️ Encryption

➡️ Distance

➡️ Bandwidth limitation

➡️ Poor quality servers

➡️ Number of servers (more servers = less network congestion)

The brief analogy we used above misses some essential aspects. For starters, VPNs not only hide your traffic but also encrypt it.

So even if someone would be able to take a glance at the traffic that passes through the obscured tunnel, it would be for nothing.

All your data is protected using complex encryption and decryption algorithms. This security measure also puts a strain on the servers, and implicitly on your Internet connection.

Then there’s the distance. Imagine that you need to access a website located in the US, and you’re already in the US. The time it takes for your computer to establish the connection shouldn’t be too long.

However, if you use a VPN server located in Germany, for instance, things change.

Instead of drawing a straight line between you and the destination website, the connection hops through a German server, and the virtual distance between you and the website increases.

Last but not least, your Internet speed might also depend on the quality of the VPN servers.

If your VPN uses cheap, low-power servers, or if they throttle the bandwidth, your connection’s speed will decrease dramatically.

? Does McAfee VPN slow down Internet?

Yes, you can expect Internet slow speed while using this VPN because it secures your traffic through additional servers to give you online privacy.

? Does VPN slow down Internet on iPhone?

This is also true because the VPN needs to redirect your traffic to another network before connecting to the server. Hence, that may slow down your Internet connection.

? Does Norton VPN slow down the Internet

Norton VPN will certainly reduce your Internet speed. As stated by other users, this particular VPN is among the slowest tools in terms of connection speed.

? Does ExpressVPN slow down Internet?

No, it doesn’t. According to our tests, this VPN offers a truly fast connection so we didn’t notice any slow-down times.

Even though it’s common to have a speed reduction when connecting the VPN, this software provided quick Internet navigation.

How to increase my Internet speed using a VPN?

1. Use a trustworthy VPN

  1. Download ExpressVPN.
  2. Install it and launch it on your PC.
  3. Log into your account.
  4. Connect to a fast, low-ping server (location isn’t important).
  5. Enjoy your fast, un-throttled Internet connection.

ExpressVPN is an excellent all-around service from Kape Technologies. While it will still affect your Internet speed at times, depending on your server of choice and the encryption algorithms you use, the slowdown will be little.

It has a wide network of servers all around the world, so you can be sure that you can always find the best server suited for your needs.

This VPN also doesn’t throttle bandwidth, so you can enjoy unrestricted Internet access no matter where you are.

As you can see, the slowdown is not exactly huge, considering that we’re connected to a US server through wireless, from Europe.

ExpressVPN

If your VPN slows down your Internet connection, consider this ultra-fast VPN solution.

2. Change your DNS

As you may know, your ISP assigns you a DNS address when you sign up for an Internet subscription.

However, more often than not the ISP-assigned DNS is not the best and might slow down your Internet connection by a great deal.

If that’s the case, you can switch to a free DNS such as OpenDNS, Cloudflare, or Google Public DNS. This, in turn, can make your Internet connection faster.

Just as a quick side note: Express has its own DNS for each server that you can easily toggle straight from the client.

3. Use wired connections instead of wireless

If possible, you should always pick wired connections instead of wireless. Wired connections aren’t prone to interference, and as a result, you’ll get better speed and a more stable connection.

That goes especially if you’re also using a VPN. We already know that wireless is slower than wired and that VPN affects Wi-Fi connections. Put together, you get the worst of both worlds.

Can VPN increase my Internet speed?

With all that in mind, we can safely say that yes, VPN can impact your Internet speed positively.

You should also keep in mind that the percentage of the slowdown is not a constant, and can wildly vary depending on various factors.

On the downside, you can’t do anything to remove the slowdown altogether.

The good news is that you can keep it in check by always choosing an efficient VPN service.

Or, choosing wired over wireless connections, using a public DNS if your ISP-assigned one is too slow, and connecting to fast servers that are close to you.

Which VPN increases Internet speed?

It is likely to increase your connection speed using the right tools. Thus, there are really fast connection VPNs that will increase your Internet speed:

Frequently Asked Questions

Does having 2 routers increase Internet speed? It depends on your current setup and Internet plan. If your connection is already slow, adding a second router will probably slow it down even further. However, sometimes adding a second router can improve your Wi-Fi speed.

Why does my VPN slow down my Internet speed? A VPN can slow down your Internet speed for a number of reasons: encryption, decryption, the distance between you and the server, and the quality of the servers.

How to increase your Internet speed while using a VPN? Try using wired connections instead of wireless, change your ISP-assigned DNS to a public one, and try choosing servers that are geographically close to you.

How to Enable Jump Lists in Windows 10

Although Windows 10 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, we can’t help but notice that some features from previous versions are absent.

One of these features is Jump lists, and if you’re missing it we’re going to show you how to enable Jump Lists in Start Menu in Windows 10.

What are Jump Lists?

Jump Lists were first introduced in Windows 7 and they allowed you to see recent documents or to access certain features from apps that are pinned to your taskbar or to your Start Menu.

For example, if you have a text editor pinned to your taskbar you can see recent files simply by right-clicking its icon on the taskbar.

Jump Lists work the same way for Start Menu apps, and if the app has support for Jump Lists, it will have a small arrow next to it. By hovering your mouse over it, you can reveal your recent documents or certain features.

As you can see, this was quite a useful feature, and it’s a shame to see that they aren’t working in the Start Menu on Windows 10, but there’s a way to fix that.

How can I enable Jump Lists in the Windows 10 Start Menu?

  1. 1. Open the Run dialog by pressing the Windows Key + R.

    open run
  2. 2. Type in regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor.

type in regedit and press ok
  3. 3. Locate the following key on the left pane:HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced

    locate the key
  4. 4. Create a new 32-bit DWORD called EnableXamlJumpView and set its value to 1.

  5. 5. Close the Registry Editor.

  6. 6. Restart your PC.

  7. Although Jump lists are working with taskbar icons in Windows 10, you can enable them in the Start Menu as well by changing the registry.

We have to warn you to be careful when changing the registry because you can damage your Windows 10 installation.

After restart, Jump lists should be working in the Start Menu, although they look a bit bigger than on Windows 7.

Can I check my current Windows 10 Jump List?

jump list file explorer windows 10

On Windows 10, you can quickly check your Jump Lists for every app or program pinned to the taskbar. All you need to do is right-click on the respective app or program and you’ll see a list of all the recent files and folders that you accessed.

There you go, that should do it. If you have any questions or suggestions related to this post, feel free to use the comments section below.

Recommended security software to combine with VPN

VPNs work best to stop hackers when combined with additional security software, hence, you need to utilize quality antivirus solutions as well as anti-malware tools.

This will prevent malware attacks and safeguard your personal information and online identities.

1. TotalAV – Antivirus with a VPN included

TotalAV antivirus scan

TotalAV’s higher plans bundle a Safe Browsing VPN with the antivirus, so you get both from one app. Real-time protection stops malware as it arrives, WebShield blocks phishing and malicious sites, and every download is scanned before it opens.

The VPN is a bundled extra rather than a full VPN service, so it is best seen as a way to encrypt your connection on public Wi-Fi rather than a replacement for the dedicated VPNs elsewhere on this list. The free version lets you scan a PC before you buy.

  • Safe Browsing VPN bundled in the higher plans
  • Real-time protection against malware
  • WebShield blocks phishing and malicious sites
  • Downloads scanned before they open
  • Free on-demand scanner

Note that the popularity of VPNs in the last decade has come with a lot of misconceptions since many people do not really know what a VPN does and its mechanism for protecting devices.

Among these misconceptions is the idea that VPNs protect against hackers and viruses.

VPN is software that enables safe passage through which data travels from your PC to the web server you’re trying to connect. This is particularly important as hackers and malicious programs cannot access this safe passage, so your data is protected.

As encryption technology makes your data unreadable, your ISP, hackers, and even security agencies cannot access your information.

What software prevents hackers?

You can find many effective programs to safeguard your PC from risky hacking attacks. Some of them are described above, so don’t miss them.

All said you have particular anti-hacking software for Windows devices that secure the OS from phishing attacks, spyware, and more to go.

VPNs bring valuable security features to the table; however, we believe they can best stop hackers when combined with strong antivirus software for maximum protection.

What anti-hacking tools do you use? Share your experience with us in the comments section below.

Can you be hacked while using a VPN?

The answer to this is Yes and No. A hacker cannot directly access your system if you’re using a trusted VPN, but your information can be acquired in several ways.

If you download malware-infected files from a suspicious website while browsing anonymously, this will infect your system with malware and your VPN would be powerless to stop it.

Also, you may click on a link online that may have malicious spyware in hidden code.

Your VPN does hide your internet activities and data from hackers. However, the spyware downloaded and installed would record your keystrokes, mouse clicks, and other computer patterns.

This is one reason why you should not download a free VPN. Many hackers use these free VPNs as bait to lure unsuspecting users to download malware or trackers on their systems.

➡️ Can hackers see your incognito history?

They can, indeed, if you don’t use any security methods like VPNs or antivirus. Hackers can track Incognito history through different cyber practices.

➡️ Does Incognito mode stop hackers?

No, for sure. The Incognito mode helps you hide specific information, like browser history or cookies, but it doesn’t protect your IP address.

That means hackers can break into your system using your unprotected IP address.

➡️ Can hackers see what I Google?

More than probable, yes. There are experienced hackers who use complex strategies to track sensitive data. So, seeing your Google queries may be a piece of cake.

➡️ Can browsing history be tracked through a VPN?

A VPN should encrypt your connection so that your personal browsing history is private and inaccessible to others.

For extra protection, you should consider a VPN with threat security to stop advanced attacks from skillful cyber criminals.

Why is it best to combine an antivirus with a VPN?

It is essential you combine antivirus and a trusted VPN service to ensure complete protection of your system. This is because they both go hand in hand while ensuring secure connections, online security, and privacy.

Many computers either come with antivirus or users download some form of antivirus. This is essential as antivirus removes malware, viruses, and malicious software from your system.

Another important feature of antivirus is it prevents exploit attacks. A hacker can exploit vulnerable patches in the computer software to hack your system. Using a VPN alone cannot secure your system from exploit attacks.

Since a VPN majorly hides your IP address and encrypts your internet connection, you need trusted antivirus software to shield you from malicious software, phishing websites, and other online malware. So the bottom line is antivirus and VPN are complements of each other.

7 Ways to Fix Windows 11 C Drive Getting Full Automatically

Does your computer give you a warning that the Local Disk C has insufficient space, or are you unable to download or install the most recent updates for Windows 11?

If so, your C drive is already full, and you need to create some more space for normal operations. Many users encounter the problem of their windows 11 C drive getting full automatically.

But why is it the case? Why is Windows 11’s C drive getting full automatically and how can this problem be resolved?

In this article, we are going to discuss some of the ways you can solve the problem of your Windows 11 C drive getting full automatically.

Why does C drive get full automatically in Windows 11?

All programs and downloads are by default saved in the Local Disk C which is the system drive in the majority of Windows versions.

This may be one factor causing Windows 11’s C drive to fill up with data. Here are a few additional causes that could erratically take up your C drive capacity:

  • The Local Disk C may have stored user information like images, downloads, or private data
  • Your files might overtake the system space due to malware or virus problems
  • Most files are saved in the C disk by default, as was already indicated. As a result, you might have unknowingly saved large files
  • Cache, temporary downloads, and junk files from Windows could be present on the local drive C

How do I stop C drive from getting full automatically in Windows 11?

1. Perform a Disk Cleanup

  1. Press the Windows + E key combination to launch File Explorer.
  2. Click on This PC, right-click on C drive, and then select Properties.
  3. Click on Disk Cleanup.
  4. Select the files you want to delete from your PC and then select OK.

2. Empty the Recycle Bin

  1. Right-click on the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop.
  2. Select Empty Recycle Bin.
  3. You will be prompted to permanently delete files. Click Yes, and your system will then delete all files on the Recycle Bin.

3. Use EaseUS Partition Master to extend the Windows C drive

3.1 Extend the System C drive with unallocated space

  1. Download EaseUS Partition Master from its official download site.
  2. Launch EaseUS Partition Master and then select the System C drive and select Resize/Move.
  3. Drag the system partition end into the unallocated space to add it to the C drive and then click OK.

3.2 Extend the System C drive without unallocated space

  1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master and then right-click on a partition with enough free space on the system disk and then select Allocate Space.
  2. Select the system drive and drag the end of the System C drive into the unallocated space. Click OK to confirm.

4. Transfer large files to an external hard drive

  1. Connect an external drive to your computer.
  2. Press the Windows key + E to launch File Explorer.
  3. Navigate through your folders selecting the files you would like to transfer.
  4. Press the Ctrl + X key combination to cut the files.
  5. Navigate to the external drive you have connected above and press the Ctrl + V key combination to paste the files.
  6. Wait for the process to complete and then safely remove the external drive.

5. Delete temporary files

  1. Press the Windows + R key combination to launch the run command.
  2. Type %temp% in the run text field and then press OK.
  3. Press the Ctrl + A key combination to select all files and then press Shift + Del to permanently delete the files.
  4. If asked for Administrator access, click Continue.

6. Upgrade your hard drive

Although this solution is extremely obvious, it is still worth mentioning. If you’re struggling with low space on your drive, you should think about replacing your drive with a higher-capacity one.

Or, at least, use an external drive to back up every non-system file from the C drive on this one.

7. Scan your computer for viruses

  1. Click the Windows Start icon and then select Settings.
  2. On the menu that appears, click on Windows Security and then select Virus & threat protection.
  3. Click the Quick scan button.
  4. For a more thorough option, click the Scan options button and then select Full scan.

Windows Defender is a great built-in antivirus but if you want the best results you should consult our list of the best antiviruses for Windows 11.

  4. Selecting Show more options will show you the additional files, including programs, documents, images, and temporary files, which are using up space.

In Windows 11, you can quickly determine what’s consuming up space on your computer by utilizing the Storage settings.

Following the procedures above, you can check what files are occupying space on your Windows 11 hard drive.

How to free up space on Windows 11?

You can free up space in Windows 11 by deleting any unnecessary files from your computer. Additionally, look for large applications that you do not need or no longer use.

Ensure that these applications are uninstalled. You should also make sure that you have updated your operating system to eliminate any issues or loopholes that might be consuming space.

7 Best Chess Software to Train on PC [2026 List]

Chess is a game that has fascinated players from all over the world, so there is no wonder that more and more people want to learn how to play it.

While there are many basic chess apps, the best chess software comes with extensive tutorials that will enhance your game.

Some programs even have championship chess engines that have taken on the world’s most popular players. This is where chess training software for Windows steps in, so we encourage you to embrace the challenge.

Best tips on how to train your chess skills

Whether you’re just starting to understand the basics or you’re a seasoned player, you can’t stop training your skills for a better outcome in matches with your friends, online, or in competitions.

In that respect, we have a few pieces of advice that will help you achieve great results when you’re training.

➡ Pick the best training for your level

If you’re a beginner, you need to start with the basics, and even if they sound too easy, don’t go too fast over any information. Let it settle and use it repeatedly.

More experienced players should address their weaknesses if they are aware of them, without neglecting the other aspects of the game.

➡ Always focus on your tasks

Although it sounds obvious, when you’re training or learning (and that stands for everything, really) concentrate on the task at hand.

If you can’t focus 100% on your training or learning, postpone the lesson until you find the level of concentration required. Otherwise, you won’t be able to assimilate the information.

➡ Try playing with better players

Although it’s very satisfying to have only victories, competing against weaker opponents will not raise your game level.

Playing is the best form of exercising what you’ve learned but you will soon understand (if you didn’t already) that any moves can be countered by a more skilled opponent.

Our list of the best cross-platform chess apps can get you to play more, whether you’re on PC or mobile.

Komodo Dragon 2 – Great training platform

Dragon 2 is one of the most advanced chess training platforms based on the NNUE (Neural Network Updated Efficiently) technology.

The new version is a big improvement over the previous Komodo 14.1, evaluated at a strength of 210 elo in standard mode.

And that is thanks to the embedded neural network that can evaluate the situation more accurately and provide some tactics that usually go past other solutions.

According to the publisher, Dragon won the 2021 TCEC Swiss championship in normal chess, simply because it can now play in a more human-like style.

That’s because its game relies on learning, not just on algorithms that, in many cases, don’t work on a real board.

Dragon 2 added a new interesting feature called MCTS Optimism that will make the software more confident in its decisions and less confident in predicting your moves.

The new version also includes more levels, Personalities, and an Auto-Skill feature that will attempt to match your level, ideal when you’re training.

Lucas Chess – Great for begineers

Lucas Chess might not have a world-beating chess engine but is better software for novice players than some of the alternatives here. The program is also freeware, which is a big bonus.

One of the best things about Lucas Chess is that it has 36 chess engines for you to play against with various game modes.

Furthermore, payers can also add more engines so long as they’re based on the UCI protocol. The software has various lessons for players and includes AI training partners and training positions.

The tutoring engine gives players a limited number of hints to win matches. Trans-Siberian railway is one of the software’s more novel chess training options that are based on a train trip through Russia.

Overall, Lucas Chess has plenty of training options; and as freeware, it’s better valued than most chess programs.

How to become a chess champion

You finally know how you can train and have the tools to do so, but you could also use some advice on how to become the next Kasparov.

Take note of a few interesting strategies that will get you to an advanced level quickly:

➡ Don’t rush to make a move

You have probably seen a good move, but don’t be too hasty to make it. Look around and see if you have other, better ones, at your disposal.

Patience and enhanced analysis of the other player’s game are the best scripts for success, so take your time even if you’re playing a timed game.

➡ Don’t forget about castling

Castling is one of the most important defense moves and the earlier you perform it, the sooner you’ll be prepared for attack.

The move also brings the rook into play faster and we don’t need to stress how valuable is an active rook on the table.

➡ Bring your pieces into action

At the beginning of the game, the most valuable pieces stand behind the peons but the sooner you get them out, the sooner you will get the initiative to attack.

We’re not saying that this should be performed randomly but you should act upon your designated strategy.

➡ Start with a strategy

Always have a plan in mind, a strategy to follow. Of course, it can change in the course of the game because it will be influenced by the opponent’s moves.

However, it’s always better to have a plan from the beginning that you will be able to follow through by anticipating the other player’s moves.

➡ Play as much as you can

Many programs in our list are interactive but keep in mind that there are also online chess platforms where you can play with people from all over the world.

Practicing is the best way of testing your strategies so get yourself into competitions as much as possible.

This concludes our guide that includes chess programs for Windows with extensive training options and guides for players in addition to numerous playing modes.

The chess engine programs are invaluable coaches that provide detailed feedback which will take your game to a whole new level.

However, you can also take a look at our selection of the best free chess apps that you can use to play on any device.

How to Change the Mouse Scroll Direction in Windows 10

Scrollbars are ubiquitous in all types of computers and by default, rolling the mouse wheel down scrolls down a page. But some users want to reverse the scroll direction in Windows 10.

Read on to find out what options you have to change the mouse scroll’s direction on your device.

Can I reverse the mouse scroll direction?

Windows 10 used to have a Settings option that you could use to configure the scrolling direction with.

However, an update removed the Reverse scrolling direction setting. So how can we now configure the mouse wheel’s scroll direction in Windows 10?

Well, there are two easy alternatives you can try out, as you will see from the guides below.

How do I change the mouse scroll direction in Windows 10?

1. Edit the Registry

Even if there’s no longer a Reverse scrolling direction option via Settings in Windows 10, you can still customize the mouse wheel’s scroll direction with a registry edit.

For that, you’ll need the mouse VID ID which is listed in Device Manager.

  1. 1. Press the Win + S keys at the same time on your keyboard to open the search box.

  2. 2. Type device manager in it and click on the first result to open the app.

    device manager open
  3. 3. Select Mice and other pointing devices and double-click your mouse.

  4. 4. Click on the Details tab, which includes the drop-down menu shown directly below.

    mouse details in device manager
  5. 5. Select Device instance path from the drop-down menu.

  6. 6. Right-click the value in the Value box and select Copy.

  7. 7. Press OK and close the Device Manager window.

  8. 8. Open Notepad and paste the VID ID in Notepad.

  9. 9. Press the Win + R  keys to open the Run dialog.

  10. 10. Enter regedit in Run’s text box to open the Registry Editor app.

  11. 11. Open this registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumHID

    registry location vid id
  12. 12. This is where the VID ID comes in handy. Click the key that matches the VID ID in Notepad.

  13. 13. Now you can select a Device Parameters key that has a FlipFlopWheel DWORD as shown below.

vid id locate in device manager
  14. 14. Next, double-click FlipFlopWheel to open an Edit DWORD window.

    edit dword registry
  15. 15. Enter 1 in the Value data text box and press OK.

  16. 16. Close the Registry Editor window (You’ll need to restart Windows for the changes to take effect).

  17. 17. Click the Start button and roll your mouse wheel up. That will scroll the Start menu’s bar slider down. Roll the mouse wheel down to scroll back up the menu.

  18. 18. To revert back to the default setting, select the FlipFlopWheel DWORD in Registry Editor window and enter 0 in the Value data box.

2. Set up an AutoHotkey Script

AutoHotkey is software that users can set up macro scripts with and with which they reverse the scroll direction.

This is freeware software you can add to Windows by pressing the Download button on the program’s website. Set up a reverse scroll direction script as follows:

  1. Press the Cortana button and enter Notepad in the search box. Select to open Notepad.
  2. Now you can enter the script in Notepad. Copy and Paste this script in Notepad: WheelUp::
    Send {WheelDown}
    Return
    WheelDown::
    Send {WheelUp}
    Return

reverse the scroll direction in Windows 10
  3. Click File > Save as to open the Save as window and select All Files from the Save as type in the drop-down menu.
  4. Enter a file title for the script and make sure to include .ahk at the end of it. For example, you could save it as Scroll Direction Script.ahk.
  5. Select to save the script to Desktop and press the Save button. That should add an AutoHotkey script icon to the desktop as shown below.reverse the scroll direction in Windows 10
  6. Close Notepad and double-click the AutoHotkey script shortcut on the desktop to run it.
  7. Click the Start button and roll the mouse wheel up to scroll down the menu.
  8. To close the script, right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager. Select AutoHotkey Unicode on the Processes tab and press its End task button.

These are two ways that you can reverse the mouse wheel’s scroll direction in Windows 10. Now, the scrollbar slider will move down when you roll the mouse wheel up and vice versa.

5 Ways to Fix SteamVR if it’s Not Working With Oculus Quest

Virtual reality is all the rage right now. As a result, you have a bunch of tech companies diving headfirst into the industry, trying to be the one that capitalizes on virtual reality.

You have Apple developing their virtual reality headset and Microsoft working on something that can be in enterprise situations. But the one company that’s been doing pretty successfully for a while now is Meta.

Meta launched the Oculus Quest 2 (also known as the Meta Quest 2) in October 2020 as a follow-up to the original Quest. It’s a popular device with various titles, from rhythm games to RPGs like Zenith: The Last City.

The Quest 2 headset supports Valve’s Steam gaming platform, so you can play some of your favorites from there. But there have been problems between the Quest 2 headset and Steam.

Why does SteamVR not work with Oculus Quest 2?

There could be a lot of different reasons why problems arise between Steam and an Oculus Quest 2 headset. However, the most common problem does not have the latest Steam version.

Other problems include corrupted files and drivers on your Quest 2 headset. It’s also possible that other apps on your computer are getting in the way.

The first thing you should do is restart your computer. That’ll solve most issues. However, if the problem persists, try out any of the following solutions.

How do I get the SteamVR to work on Oculus?

1. Disable apps

Some of the apps on your Windows computer may be interfering with SteamVR. It’s recommended that you first close or uninstall those apps to see if they’re the ones causing the problems.

SteamVR problems often come from antivirus, anti-spyware, and VPN software. If that’s the case, turn off or uninstall those programs. It would help if you did the same to file-sharing software like Dropbox.

Firewalls should be turned off. If turning off the firewall seems to have solved the problem, we recommend adding SteamVR permission.

  1. Open up Windows Security and select Firewall & network protection.
  2. Click Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Click Change settings, then select the Allow another app button.
  4. Click Browser and search for SteamVR.
  5. Once SteamVR has been added, click the Add button.
  6. Click the OK button on the next page. Then close it.

2. Update Steam

  1. First, open Steam.
  2. Click the Steam menu in the upper left-hand corner.
  3. Click Check for Steam Client Updates.
  4. A window will appear, checking if there are any updates to download. If there is, Steam will automatically install the update, then close and re-open. (Otherwise, it’ll state that the Steam client is already up to date).

3. Run as administrator

  1. Right-click on the Steam desktop icon and select Properties in the context menu.
  2. A small window will appear; select the Compatibility tab.
  3. Under the Settings section, click the box next to Run this program as an administrator.
  4. Click Apply, then click the OK button.
  5. Launch Steam.

4. Verify the integrity of SteamVR

  1. Go to your Library on Steam.
  2. Next to Search by type, click the double bar symbol if SteamVR doesn’t appear in the game list.
  3. Under Hardware Support, click VR.
  4. SteamVR will appear under tools. Right-click it and select Properties.
  5. Select Local Files in the new window.
  6. Select Verify integrity of tools files. Let Steam check the integrity of SteamVR. Click Close when done.

5. Reinstall SteamVR

  1. On Steam Library, right-click SteamVR and hover over Manage.
  2. Click Uninstall.
  3. Select Uninstall in the new window.
  4. Select SteamVR and click Install.

Can you run SteamVR without Steam?

Yes, you can. According to the helpful community on the Steam forums, you can run the SteamVR startup files and install them onto another device, like the Oculus Quest 2. From there, you can run SteamVR without needing to open Steam.

Other reports state that SteamVR may try to integrate itself with the Steam app, but it should still work regardless.

Feel free to comment below if you have any questions regarding the above processes. Also, do not hesitate to comment about guides you’d like to see or information about any other app on whichever platform.

How to Split Screen on Windows 11 [2 Different Ways]

The latest Microsoft OS is brand new, coming up with new features and great capabilities. Among others, it allows you to easily change specific designs, according to your own necessities.

Some users seem to be interested in how to split-screen in Windows 11. And if you’re one of them, keep in mind that you can do it in different ways.

Fortunately, these take only a few seconds, so do not worry about performing them. And if you change your mind, you can quickly go back to the default aspect.

There are multiple reasons to split your Windows 11 screen, but we selected only the best of them. Take a look at the following section and discover them.

Why should I split the Windows 11 screen?

To be more efficient in your workplace, there might be times when you need to run two monitors, either we talk about connecting a new one or using VMware support.

Splitting the screen allows you to do this on a single one, dividing your PC screen into two or more halves so you can view different windows at the same time.

This will definitely create more screen real estate and also build a more efficient workflow. And note that having a large monitor is an important advantage to clearly view your split sections.

How can I split the screen in Windows 11?

1. Use Snap Layouts

The Snap Layouts feature allows users to able to split the screen into two, three, or four sections. It is built-in and easy to use, as you will see in the lines below.

1.1 Split the Windows 11 screen into two sections

You can easily split the screen in two different sections using Snap Layouts. To be able to do this, you first have to enable Snap Layouts from the Windows Settings Menu.

Afterwards, you can use the Maximize button on your folder’s window to split it in two.

  1. 1. Click on the Windows key, then open the Settings menu.

    windows 11 settings control panel
  2. 2. Go to System, then navigate to Multitasking.

  3. 3. Look at the Snap windows section and turn it On.

    enable snap windows multitasking
  4. 4. To explore various options, you can expand this section by clicking on it.

  5. 5. There, checkmark whatever you need. Keep in mind that you can choose multiple options.

multitasking section snap windows additional options
  6. 6. To split the screen into two sections, you have to open the folder you want to split and hover the mouse cursor over the maximize button, near the top-right corner of a window.

  7. 7. Select the first layout to split the window in two sections.

    select number of split windows
  8. 8. Now, your current app window will snap into the selected half of the screen, and the other open apps will be displayed as thumbnails in the other half.

  9. 9. Click on the one that you want to add to the other half of the screen.

    select second window
  10. 10. You’ll now see two app windows. And the best part is that you can access and work on them simultaneously.

1.2 Split the screen into three sections

  1. Hover the cursor again over the maximize button, then choose either of the three parts from the left-bottom section (We recommend selecting the biggest one).select three windows layout
  2. Now, the current window will fit the part you selected earlier. You’ll also see the other open windows shown as thumbnails. There, choose the window that requires the most attention.split screen windows 11 in 3 sides
  3. After you’ve selected the needed window, your screen will take up the left half.
  4. Similarly as before, the other open windows will be displayed as thumbnails in the remaining quarter.
  5. You’ll have to choose again which app you want to be displayed in the last quarter.

1.3 Split the screen into four sections

  1. You’ll have to hover the cursor again over the maximize button.
  2. The process will be pretty similar to what we’ve discussed before. But you’ll have to choose the needed quarter from the last option.
  3. Select the other apps to be on the split screen accordingly.split windows 11 screen in four sections

We also prepared a dedicated guide about how to enable Snap layouts on Windows 11, so do not hesitate to fully check it.

2. Manually snap Windows to the Sides

2.1 Try a specific keyboard shortcut

  1. Open the desired window.
  2. To split the screen into two sections, you’ll need to use the following keyboard shortcut: Windows + Left or Right keys.
  3. If you want to split the screen into three sections, apply the already mentioned keyboard shortcut. Remain on the least important window, then use again the same combo.
  4. For a four sections screen splitting, you’ll need to follow all the above steps. Then, click again on the most expanded window, and use again the following keyboard shortcut: Windows + Left or Right arrow key.
  5. Once the main windows display on the screen, the other open windows will appear on the opposite side.
  6. Choose the ones you want to add to the other side of the screen.
  7. Now, your screen will be split into different sections.

2.2 Use the mouse

2.2.1 Split into two sections
  1. To split the Windows 11 screen into two sections, you’ll have to hold and drag the needed window to either of the sides as far as the cursor would go.
  2. When you’re able to see a hazy outline, release the cursor. This shows the portion to be taken up by the app in the background.
  3. Now, choose the second window you need.
  4. After the two desired windows appear on your screen, to resize them, drag the line that separates them.
2.2.2 Divide into three or four sections
  1. Hold and drag the window you need to the corner.
  2. Again, once you see a hazy outline in the background that covers a quarter of the screen, release the cursor.
  3. Now, the main window and the other apps will appear on your screen. Select two of the most important ones to add to other sections.
  4. You’ll now have three windows on the screen.
  5. Note that you’re able to resize the windows by dragging the line that separates the windows, just as you did earlier.
  6. You can similarly split the screen into four sections.

What are other useful Windows 11 screen features?

  • Rotate the screen – With its great features, you’ll be able to rotate your screen in Windows 11.
  • Record the screen – Also, thanks to the latest Microsoft OS version, recording the screen will be a piece of cake. To get the best out of this option, you should try a screen recorder app with webcam overlay support.
  • Make print screens – For most users, screen captures are mandatory during their day-to-day work. Fortunately, some easy methods will help you to take a screenshot in Windows 11.

We ensured delivering only valuable options and information, so make sure if you apply them, you’ll be surprisingly pleased. Additionally, you can try DisplayFusion which can also split-screen your PC screen without the need of following manual steps.

Windows 11 DNS Over HTTPS: How to Enable & Use

Windows 11 has a new feature called DNS over HTTPS that you can use to perform encrypted DNS lookups to bypass certain Internet activity blockages.

In fact, a lot of governments and ISP monitor a user’s DNS traffic to apply bans and censorship. That’s where the DNS over HTTPS steps into place and goes around any of these imposed limitations.

What is DNS over HTTPS and what does it do?

When you’re browsing online and you go to a website, your PC is communicating with a DNS (domain name system) server to get the IP address of the website.

Well, such a DNS inquiry can be monitored by your government or even by the ISP but if you use a DNS over HTTPS (DoH) that lookup is encrypted and can no longer be interrogated from outside.

You should know that if you’re using a Chromium-based browser like Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Opera, you already have support for DoH.

But that will cover only the browsing activity, not the transfers from the other apps that you’re running on your PC.

By embedding that feature in the OS, you will be sure that all the DNS inquiries will be encrypted.

Can I use the DNS over HTTPS feature on Windows 11?

It’s not the first time that Microsoft is testing the DoH feature. It first appeared in the Windows 10 preview build 20185 for Windows Insiders but it was pulled back pretty fast. Now, with Windows 11, the Redmond giant is taunting the feature again.

The preferred DNS encryption option offers the following choices:

  • Unencrypted only – Equivalent to an OFF feature, really
  • Encrypted only (DNS over HTTPS) – Only use DoH servers
  • Encrypted preferred, unencrypted only – If no DoH servers are available, switch to standard unencrypted DNS

What are the DNS over HTTPS servers available on Windows 11?

There is a tricky part to DoH encryption and that is that the data has to pass through a DoH server for encryption.

However, there are not a lot of servers that support DoH and can be used by default by Windows 11. In fact, Microsoft provided a short list of servers that can provide the DNS-over-HTTPS feature. Here are some popular ones:

For IPv4

  • Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 DNS servers
  • Google: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 DNS servers
  • Quad9: 9.9.9.9 and 149.112.112.112 DNS servers

For IPv6

  • Google: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844
  • Cloudflare: 2606:4700:4700::1111 and 2606:4700:4700::1001
  • Quad9: 2620:fe::fe and 2620:fe::fe:9

Things will get pretty crowded very soon unless something motivates the birth of a lot more of these.

How can I enable DNS over HTTPS on my Windows 11 device?

1. Via Internet Settings

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Choose the Ethernet/Wireless option.
  4. Click on Edit DNS server assignment.
  5. Select Manual from the drop-down menu.
  6. Toggle the switch for IPv4 ON.
  7. Enter a DNS address in the Preferred DNS section. You can choose one from those previously mentioned in the article.
  8. In the Preferred DNS encryption section, choose Encrypted only (DNS OVER HTTPS).
  9. Enter a DNS address in the Alternate DNS section.
  10. Change this one to Encrypted only as well.
  11. Click on Save to apply the changes.

The easiest method to use this feature is via Internet Settings. The process is simple and easy to follow, and does not impose any risk to your PC.

2. Modify the Group Policy

Microsoft allows you to configure the DNS over HTTPS feature in Windows 11 through the group policies as well.

Once you enable DoH, the DNS servers policy can be seen in the right pane, and you can set the IP Address in line with the provider that you want to use.

  1. 1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard to open the Windows search box.

  2. 2. Type group policy in the search box.

  3. 3. From the results, click on Edit Group Policy.

  4. 4. Go to the following path: Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/DNS Client

  5. 5. Select Enable.

  6. 6. Click on the drop-down menu from the Configure DoH options to select the preferred option.

from the Configure DoH options to select the preferred option

Can I create custom DoH server definitions?

If you’re an IT manager, you can create your own DoH server definitions by performing the following commands in netsh or PowerShell:

Netsh command: netsh dns add encryption server=[resolver-IP-address] dohtemplate=[resolver-DoH-template] autoupgrade=yes udpfallback=no

PowerShell command: Add-DnsClientDohServerAddress -ServerAddress '[resolver-IP-address]' -DohTemplate '[resolver-DoH-template]' -AllowFallbackToUdp $False -AutoUpgrade $True

Watch It’s Always Sunny on Any Streaming Service in Canada

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a quirky American sitcom that follows The Gang, a group of 5 people with questionable morals, who are always up to no good.

If you’re living or traveling to Canada, you might have a hard time trying to watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia unless you have the DVD collection. You can also rent it from Prime Video or iTunes.

To get around this problem and watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia from Canada or any other part of the world, you can use a VPN.

A virtual private network solution changes your IP address and associated geo-position, giving you the possibility to connect to a VPN server and gain a new identity associated with a new location.

Unfortunately, there are few VPNs that actually work with video streaming services. Free VPNs rarely do the trick because they get easily identified and blocked by Netflix and Hulu.

Is It’s Always Sunny on any streaming service?

It sure is. The show is obviously available on Hulu and also on Netflix UK. However, Hulu videos are not available in locations outside the US.

Similarly, you can only watch Netflix UK if you’re in the United Kingdom. You guessed it, a VPN would come in handy.

But before we dig in, let’s see some of the main streaming platforms where you can find this special comedy sitcom.

What streaming service has It’s always sunny in Philadelphia:

? Amazon Prime Video

? Hulu

? Netflix UK

? JustWatch

Therefore, you can find out in-depth what streaming services have It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

How can I watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia in Canada?

1. Subscribe to a streaming-optimized VPN provider

  1. Sign up for an ExpressVPN subscription plan.
  2. Download and install the app on your device.
  3. Use the credentials provided by ExpressVPN to log in and launch the client.

As we mentioned earlier, there is no shortage of streaming apps where you can watch It’s always sunny in Philadelphia. However, there is a catch.

The content offered by these services is often submitted to regional locks, other geo-restrictions, marketing decisions, and the list could go on and on.

In order to gain access to particular catalogs, titles, and so on, you need a powerful ally that can circumvent such limitations. And what better tool to fight off censorship that a streaming-optimized VPN?

Our recommendation is ExpressVPN, a VPN perfectly built to unlock video content in Canada and beyond.

2. Connect to a US or UK-based server

  1. Once you logged into the ExpressVPN app, it’s time to expand the server list.
  2. Comb through the results and pick a United States (if you’re using Hulu) or a United Kingdom-based (if you go for Netflix) server.
  3. If you happen to notice a streaming tag next to your choice, even better. Go for it!
  4. Once the connection is active, go to the streaming platform of your choice and enjoy It’s always sunny in Canada.
Tip icon Tip
Couldn’t find a server location with the streaming tag next to it? Don’t worry! Simply go for the server with the lowest ping from the US, and respectively UK (according to your streaming platform).

3. Choose your favorite video streaming platform

3.1. Disney+

We have good news for those of you who were wandering the following: Is Always sunny on Disney Plus Canada? It sure is and you can enjoy it right away. All you need is a Disney+ subscription, of course.

3.2. Hulu

Hulu offers a one-month free trial, with subscription plans starting at $5.99/month (the first month is free).

So, make sure you secure a subscription with ExpressVPN and watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Hulu.

3.3. Netflix (UK)

What countries have it’s always sunny on Netflix? It’s none other than the Kingdom, of course.

If you already have a Netflix account and want to make the most of it, we suggest using a VPN to unlock all popular Netflix libraries, including Netflix UK.

Simply connect to a VPN server from the UK, then start watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia via Netflix.

? How can I watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 15 in Canada?

There are many SVoDs and just as many ways to watch this all-time favorite show. Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, iTunes, Disney Plus, JustWatch, all of them host episodes from It’s always sunny.

But where to watch It’s always sunny all seasons? Hulu remains the best option and if you’re living or traveling to Canada, you need a reliable VPN in order to watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia online.

Once you have the VPN app installed, it’s quite simple: connect to a VPN server from the US, then start watching It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia using Hulu.

9 Easy Ways to Fix Elden Ring Not Launching on PC

Since Elden Ring came out on February 25, we’ve shown you a lot of tips that can be used to fix some of the most common bugs that gamers are struggling with. But many have of late reported that Elden Ring is not launching.

By now, you already know what to do if you can’t play Elden Ring with a controller on your PC, the game isn’t using your GPU, it won’t download or install correctly, or you’re getting the Easy Anti Cheat error.

However, all these guides are futile if you can’t even get the game to start, an issue reported by many people who went ahead and purchased Elden Ring.

And even though some of these problems still haven’t been patched yet, some workarounds might help you enjoy your new experience.

Why does my Elden Ring not launch?

As with any game, verify that Elden Ring is compatible with your system and meets at least the minimum requirements. Because if it’s not, you would be unable to launch the game.

If Elden Ring started throwing errors recently and has not been launching since chances are that the game or system files are corrupt. Also, any recent changes made to the settings, game, system, or new applications installed can just as well be the underlying cause.

Windows will now open in a clean boot environment, with only the critical services, drivers, and processes running. So if Elden Ring is now launching fine, the issue lies with either of the three.

So, check them all, update the installed drivers, uninstall any conflicting applications, and start the services one at a time until you find what’s behind the problem.

If Elden Ring is still not launching, the problem lies with the game itself and reinstalling it would be the only viable option.

OSRS Not Connecting to Update Server: How to Fix it

Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is an excellent game that you can play on browsers and the client. Jagex updates this game frequently to make sure it keeps running smoothly. But some users complained that OSRS is not connecting to the update server and is stuck.

This failed connection can be frustrating, as it stops users from playing the game. Fortunately, as we did with the RuneScape not loading issue, we have provided effective solutions to this error.

Why is RuneScape not connecting to the update server?

The major reason RuneScape fails to connect to the update server is an antivirus or firewall blocking the connection. Another possible cause is server downtime from RuneScape.

These two issues are easy to fix with just a few steps, as we will show in the subsequent sections of this article.

Why do I keep getting disconnected from RuneScape?

If you keep getting disconnected after connecting to RuneScape, it is mostly down to insufficient system resources. You can fix this by closing other apps that might use your PC’s resources.

Also, it can be due to an unstable internet connection. A change of network should solve the problem in this case.

How do I fix RuneScape not connecting to the update server?

1. Check RuneScape server status

  1. Launch your browser and type RuneScape server state.
type runescape not connecting to update server
  2. Select one of the top options like Downdetector.
    google page
  3. It will show a live server status for you.
    detector

RuneScape errors like unable to connect: login server offline and OSRS error connecting to the server, please try a different world are usually down to server downtime.

If you’re getting Runescape unable to connect: login server offline error, it’s rather likely that there’s an issue with the server.

2. Disable the firewall temporarily

As mentioned earlier, antivirus software or firewall on your PC is the major cause of RuneScape server errors like error_game_js5connect – unable to connect to update server.

If OSRS client is stuck on connecting to the update server, temporarily disable the antivirus or firewall and connect it back after starting your game.

3. Check your network hardware

If the RuneScape web server is not reachable, be sure to check your network hardware. A few users reported that their router caused the issue.

To fix the problem, you might have to reset your router or, in some instances, replace it with a new one. This also works when OSRS is unable to connect to the update server on mobile.

How long is server maintenance RuneScape?

Server maintenance is necessary in order to ensure that the game runs properly. During the maintenance, you won’t be able to log in at all.

As for the length of the maintenance, it takes a couple of hours, and according to the developers, it can last around 6 hours.

RuneScape server errors can quickly dent your gaming spirit. Thankfully, it is not an issue that is difficult to fix, as we have shown.

If you want to know how to fix the RuneScape packet loss, check our article for effective solutions to apply.

Feel free to let us know if you were able to connect your game with the fixes in this guide in the comments below.
