Now select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings. Click the Restart button.

According to users, you can determine if your hardware or software causes this problem. To do that, access BIOS on Surface Pro 4 and check if the Type Cover works.

To boot to BIOS, you need to press a specific key while your PC boots. Of course, this method isn’t always practical, but you can use the above method instead.

4.2. Make sure that the Type Cover is enabled in UEFI

After doing that, save changes in UEFI and exit.

Once you enter UEFI, go to the Devices section, locate Type Cover and enable it.
Save changes and restart.

If Surface Pro 4 Type Cover is not working, perhaps there’s a glitch with it in the UEFI. However, users reported that they fixed the issue simply by disabling and reenabling the Type Cover in UEFI.

This is relatively simple, and you can do it by following the above steps. After that, your Type Cover should start working again without any problems.

5. Disconnect the Type Cover and leave it overnight

Select your operating system. Go to the Only the drive where Windows is installed > Just remove my files.

If all other solutions failed, perhaps the only solution would be to reinstall Windows 10 or Windows 11. This is a drastic solution; you should use it only if other solutions don’t work.

Several ways to reinstall Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems exist. Still, we selected the Reset option because it is probably the most straightforward and user-friendly, giving the same results as the others.

Remember that this process will remove all files from your system drive, so you should back them up beforehand.

It’s also worth mentioning that you might need a Windows 10 installation media, so be sure to create one using Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 or the Media Creation Tool for Windows 11. Once you’re ready, you can reset Windows 10/11 as described above.

Once the reset is finished, check if the problem is still there. If the issue persists, perhaps you should consider performing a clean install.

According to users, the above folder is the main issue because it gets corrupted, and the only solution is to delete the folder.

You probably won’t be able to access the folder directly from Windows, so you’ll have to go to Safe Mode and delete it from there.

4. Create a new user account

Open the Settings app and go to Accounts.
From the menu on the left choose Family & other people. In the right pane, select Add someone else to this PC.
Select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
Now choose the option Add a user without a Microsoft account.
Enter the desired user name and click on Next to proceed.

If SearchUI.exe is missing in Windows 11 or fails to load, the problem might be your user profile. Your profile can get corrupted, and to fix the problem it’s advised to create a new user profile.

After creating a new account, switch to it and check if the Search is working properly. If so, go back to your account and the search feature should start working again.

If the search still doesn’t work on your old user account, you’ll need to move your personal files to a new account and start using it as your main account.

5. Delete the Roaming profile

Press Windows + R and enter control. Press Enter or click OK to proceed.
When the Control Panel opens, navigate to System.
In the left pane, click on Advanced system settings.
When System Properties window opens, in the User Profile section click the Settings button.
Select your domain profile and click Delete.

Some users use the Roaming profile on their Windows 10 PC, and that can cause certain problems with SearchUI.exe. However, you can fix these problems simply by removing the Roaming profile from the local machine and the server.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to contact the domain administrator if you want to delete the Roaming profile on the server.

After doing that, you’ll need to contact the domain administrator and ask him to rename your roaming profile or delete it. Once that is done, the issue should be resolved. Keep in mind that this solution works only if you have a Roaming profile and you’re part of the domain. If not, you might want to skip this solution.

6. Reinstall iCloud

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Locate all instances of Windows Explorer, right-click them, and choose End task from the menu. Repeat this step for iCloud processes as well.
Now go to File followed by Run new task.
Enter explorer in the input field and press Enter or click OK.
Windows Explorer will now start. Now you need to remove iCloud and all other Apple-related applications from your PC. There are several ways to do that, but if you want to completely remove iCloud, we suggest you use an uninstaller application.

Uninstaller applications are designed to remove any application along with its related files and registry entries from your PC. There are many great tools that can help you with that. Make sure you choose the best uninstaller software that will safely uninstall even the most stubborn of programs.

After you remove iCloud using one of these tools, the SearchApp.exe suspended problem should be resolved completely. Now you can install iCloud again and the issue shouldn’t appear anymore.

7. Perform a Clean boot

Press Windows + R and enter MSConfig. Press Enter or click OK.
The System Configuration window will now appear. Go to the Services tab and check the option Hide all Microsoft services. Now click the Disable all button.

The list of startup applications will appear. Right-click the first entry on the list and choose Disable from the menu. Now repeat this step for all startup applications.

Keep in mind that you need to restart your PC after enabling a group of services or applications in order to apply the changes. Once you find the problematic application, you can disable or remove it in order to fix this problem.

How can I fix SearchUI.exe problems on Windows 11?

Press Windows + I then scroll down and go to Troubleshoot.
Here, select Other troubleshooters.
Finally, click Run next to the Search and Indexing troubleshooter.

Is it safe to disable SearchApp exe?

Due to the fact that SearchApp.exe is an essential component of your operating system, you should not immediately disable it.

There’s no need to disable SearchApp.exe unless you don’t want to use the search bar from your taskbar anymore. But it is not recommended to do so, since it can cause system crashes.

The LSA package is not signed as expected is an error from the Local Security Authority (LSA) security subsystem in the Microsoft Windows operating system. It verifies login attempts and tasks relating to Windows authentication.

However, the DISM can fail. In this case, you cannot use it to repair your PC, and the problems will not be fixed.

What causes the DISM failed issue?

There are various reasons for the DISM command not working on your Windows PC. Below are some of the variations of the DISM error and the causes:

DISM failed no operation was performed – This is a relatively common problem with DISM. However, you might be able to fix the problem by performing the DISM can using the Windows ISO file. After copying the Install.wim file, be sure to enter the correct location of the Install.wim file before running the DISM scan.

5. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter

Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
Select the Update & Security option.
Choose Troubleshoot from the menu on the left.

If DISM failed to complete, showing a DISM does not support servicing on Windows PC, the problem might be Windows Update services.

However, you can fix the problem simply by resetting Windows Update services. After these commands are executed, Windows Update components should restart, and the issue will be resolved.

7. Disable proxy

Open the Settings app.
Choose the Network & Internet option.
Select Proxy from the menu on the left. In the right pane, disable all settings.

If DISM failed to complete or run on your PC, the problem might be your proxy. Many users use proxy to protect their privacy online, but sometimes your proxy can interfere with your system and lead to this and other issues.

Download and run Media Creation Tool.

The setup will prepare the necessary files, so you’ll need to wait.
Select Download and install updates (recommended) and click Next.
Wait while the updates are downloaded.
Follow the instructions on the screen. On the Ready to install screen, click the Change what to keep option.
Select Keep personal files and apps and click Next.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the in-place upgrade process.

If the DISM scan failed to complete on your PC, your final solution might be an in-place upgrade. This process will reinstall Windows 10 and force it to upgrade to the latest version.

Unlike reinstallation, this process will keep all your files and installed applications, so you can continue where you left off.

Right-click on 0000 and select New, then DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Rename it as PerfLevelSrc and double-click it to change its Value data to 3322.
Repeat step 4 and create three new DWORD values, naming them PowerMizerEnable, PowermizerLevel, and PowermizerLevelAC.
For PowermizerLevel, and PowermizerLevelAC, modify the Value data to 1.
For PowerMizerEnable, change the Value data to 0.

3.2 Disable Windows Defender

Go to Registry Editor using the method mentioned in the above steps.
Copy and paste this path into the address bar: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MpsSvc
Locate and double-click on DWORD Start.
Change the Value data to 4 and click OK.
Restart your computer.

4. Disabling the dynamic ticking

Press the Windows key, type CMD, and click Run as administrator.
Type the following command and hit Enter BCDEDIT /SET DISABLEDYNAMICTICK YES
Paste and copy the command below and hit Enter to know the status BCDEDIT

5. Turn off D0 Packet Coalescing

Press Windows + R to get the Run console.
Type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
Locate your wireless device, right-click on it, and select Properties.

On the following dialog box, go to the Advanced tab.
Under Property, locate D0 Packet Coalescing or Packet Coalescing and under Value, select Disabled from the drop-down.

Today, we’re about to look at the interesting new VPN indicator that popped up in the Windows 11 notifications area.

And, speaking of Windows 11, know that it is also supported by the new VMware Workstation 17.0 Pro, just in case you didn’t know.

Another neat hidden change in 25247, a minor one – when you are connected using a VPN, there will soon be a small 'shield' overlay on the network icon to indicate that. (also, it respects your accent color!)

New VPN indicator shipped with Windows 11 Build 25247?

Know that we have already reported several features hidden in the latest Windows 11 build 25247, so you might want to check that out.

That being said, the latest update keeps users on their toes, after they have discovered that the software also contains a new VPN indicator in the notification area.

This will make checking if your computer is connected to a VPN something as natural as looking at the clock at the bottom right of your screen.

You can only observe the new VPN indicator when you use a wired Internet connection, so there will be no changes for those using Wi-Fi.

Thus, you will need to manually set up a VPN connection in the Settings app to see this new VPN indicator in action.

The laptop screen flickering issue is one of the many display-related problems on Windows PC. This issue can be due to hardware issues or problems with an app. It could happen on any type of laptop, including Surface Pros.

This guide will show you how to fix this problem effectively, just like we did with the screen flashing on Windows 10 issue.

How can I fix the laptop screen flickering?

Before you get down to applying the fixes in this section, press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to launch the Task Manager. If your screen flickers on the Task Manager window, the problem is likely due to your display driver.

If it does not, it is probably due to an incompatible app. You can apply the suitable fixes below:

1. Reinstall the display driver in Safe Mode

1.1. Enable Safe Mode

Press the Windows key + I and click Update & Security.
Select Recovery from the left pane and click the Restart now button under Advanced startup.
When your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options.
Select the Startup Settings option.
Now, click the Restart button.
Press 5 or F5 to Enable Safe Mode with Networking.

Safe mode starts your computer with limited files and drivers, but Windows will still run. This is the first step in solving the laptop screen flickering issues.

Note that you should select the Safe Mode with Networking option because you will need an internet connection to download your driver.

1.2. Uninstall the display driver

Right-click the Start icon and select Device Manager.
Double-click the Display adapters option to expand it and right-click the driver there.
Select Uninstall device.
Now, choose Delete the driver software for this device and click the Uninstall button.
Finally, reboot your computer.

1.3. Install the latest driver with the Windows update

Press the Windows key + I and select Update & Security.
